Posted December 3, 200816 yr comment_5436178 DVD #12 2/12/82 - Matches also on Classics 118 Abby vs. Dusty Rhodes - Bloodbath. Dusty bled big time before the bell even rang. The match was about what you'd expect. It showed Dusty's remarkable ability to get over in almost any enviroment. The crowd popped huge when he rallied and dropped a few big elbows on Abby. Of course, a clean finish was never in the cards. Without much actual match, I'm not sure the pre- and post-bell brawling was good enough to merit a nomination. I enjoyed it though. Tiger Mask vs. Baby Face - I liked Baby Face's feistiness early. He threw some choice slaps. But it degenerated into a Tiger Mask formula match, which I'm sick of already. Rusher Kimura vs. Antonio Inoki - Inoki gave an energetic performance that got the crowd into it. Kimura didn't do much of anything. 6/18/82 - Matches also on Classics 126 Fujinami vs. El Canek - JIP. They traded topes, which wasn't all that common for the day. I'm struggling to think of anything else noteworthy. It was OK. Tiger Mask vs. Ultraman - They did some nice reversal and counter sequences early to establish that Ultraman could match Tiger Mask's agility. But Tiger Mask didn't give Ultraman much offense in the last portion of the match so it stopped feeling competitive. Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant - I'm not sure I saw the same match Phil nominated because I didn't see Hogan bleeding at the end. It looked like they might have matched up again the same night, but I'm not sure. The match I saw from TV was fine but nothing special. Andre didn't play to the crowd as much as he did in his best performances and the brawling never felt all that heated. I hope there's another match, because I'd like to get an Andre-Hogan one on the set. Antonio Inoki vs. Scott McGhee - Squash.
