You know, this featured plenty of no selling, lots of my-turn-your turn work and scads of ideas picked up one moment and discarded the next. But it's one of the most famous match-ups in wrestling history, and they threw everything at each other full-force, so it's kind of hard to leave it off the set.

Tiger Mask vs. Dynamite Kid (WWF Junior Title)

- This is a frustrating match to watch. When these guys are going toe to toe, the praise that has been reaped over the years is well deserved despite Phil’s irrational hatred for DK. However, what the hell are they going to the mat for? They aren’t very good at matwork and don’t really work holds effectively. There were also a couple of sloppy spots that stood out such as the first suplex to the floor where Sayama had to try awfully hard to flip over that rope and a spot that looked like DK was flipping Mask where Mask was supposed to land on his feet but goes down in a crumpled mess. DK covers for it by immediately dropping an elbow. The stretch run was mostly par for the course between the two. Is this the famous match? If so, include it because the people will demand it but I like their ten minute sprints better than this flawed match.

It's not the most famous one but it's up there, and it was sort of the climax of their '82 series. I'm torn on these because they're not to my personal taste. I have little desire to go to the wall for any of them. But I figure others will want to watch/vote on them.

The same argument could be made for Inoki's hour matches with Brody and Fujinami. I didn't nominate those. I guess we'll sort all of this out in the final wash.

I figure we need to put three or four of these on the set, I would have no problem with this being one of them. The fast exchanges were pretty spectacular, I really dug the finish, which felt like the right time to end the match. There were some really ugly parts of this, there was a point where Dynamite put on a headscissors which was comically inept, it felt like Chuck Taylor headscissoring Fire Ant. They also both had terrible elbow drops, this really felt like watching two athletic US indy rookies who never learned basics, people really liked Pac v. El Generico and I imagine this will finish high.

To quote Henry Wadsworth Longfellow,

"There was a little girl,

Who had a little curl,

Right in the middle of her forehead.

When she was good,

She was very good indeed,

But when she was bad she was horrid."

This match was like the above-mentioned little girl, but there was significantly more in this match that was very good indeed than was horrid. I would be happy to see this match again on the set.
