Irwin Bros. vs. Zumhof & Parsons

I dig that even after the unmasking, the Irwins are still being billed as from "somewhere in the United States". The Irwins always match up well with Parsons, and Parsons seems to match up well with everybody. Zumhoffe doesn't seem to match up well with anybody, though I kinda dig him as a second and as a guy working the apron. But really don't have any desire to actually see him get in the ring. Good enough, but not one of the better Parsons vs. Irwins match-ups.

Kevin, JYD, Adams, & Strongbow vs. Hayes, Roberts, Garvin & Khan (JIP)

Kevin and Khan get out of hand early on and are tossed out of the match. Sadly, this is the highlight of the bout - specifically Hayes desperate attempts to get the rubber-faced Khan to understand the situation without the aid of "great communicator" Gordy - and while the rest of the match is really good, and I considered nominating it, but you mainly come away from it wishing you got to see Kevin vs. Khan.

Zumhof & Parsons vs. Gordy & Roberts

Third fall of a 2/3 falls match, and if we had those other two falls, I think I might be nominating this. As it is, I'll just have to wait and see.

Stella Mae Interview

I'm sorry guys. I just can't get behind the Stella Mae hate. I mean, I understand where it's coming from, and in an ideal world, I'd have both Stella and Sunshine here. But I've long felt that "grouchy old lady" was a character archetype sorely missing missing from wrestling. Actually, I thought "grouchy old Jewish lady" was a character archetype sorely missing from wrestling, but three out of four ain't bad. In any case, Stella Mae fills a niche that I've never had the pleasure of seeing filled before, and she does it in style, so I can't feel anything but love for her. If I have to leave my smark card at the door on my way out, so be it.

Jimmy Garvin & Precious vs. Chris Adams & Stella Mae (Cage)

I watched this match about a minute ago, and I already miss Jimmy Garvin. This probably wasn't the ideal way for him to exit the territory, and the mixed tag aspect will probably drag it down for some people, but still thought it was a great match and something I would fight for. First match I've seen where Adams comes out of the gate brawling, and for a guy I don't usually think of as a great brawler in the traditional sense, he does it quite well. Guy I think of more for his kicks than his punches, but has some really good looking body shots. Garvin can give it right back to him, but does spend a lot of the match getting knocked around including getting dropped by Adams with an inadvertent backdrop driver. Stella Mae and Precious fighting is fine in a "most of your better WWE Divas matches" sort of way. Stella is entertaining enough as a tough old broad and throws decent-looking forearms, and Precious bumps and stooges well for her. Garvin sells for her, too, which might irk some people, but I can roll with it. I enjoyed the match too much not to.

Michael Hayes vs. Chris Adams

This is for Adams' Beat the Champ TV Title. Adams mocks Hayes' sexy jacket striptease entrance and then throws the jacket it in his face while he's complaining about it. Hayes blows his nose on the jacket, and then we're off on a fast-paced, action-packed little bout. They go to the mat early and do some fun stuff pitting Hayes' headscissors against Adams' Indian deathlock. They go from there to the brawling, the flying, the bumping, and of course, the superkicking, and it's all very high energy stuff. Finish might mar it a bit, as Hayes misunderstands the rules and gets DQ'd for not breaking a hold while Adams is in the ropes, but still, very fun match that should be an easy nomination.

Skandor Akbar - Michael Hayes confrontation

Gino Hernandez Promo/ Freebirds Promo (2:58)

Slam dunk extra material right here. Skandor Akbar reveals that Killer Khan is the newest member of Devastation Inc., Michael Hayes is royally pissed, and then he and Terry Gordy yell at Gino Hernandez until he runs out on his own interview so that Gordy can have a world class (pun unintended) freakout over this turn of events.

The Freebirds vs. Von Erichs (Six-man Streetfight) (10:53)

Man, Mike Von Erich is really not suited to this type of match at all. He looks so feeble on offense compared to everyone else, and when selling in the context of something this badass, he just looks like a dweeb. That, and the ending felt wrong for this match. This is just me saying that the match didn't strike me as the slam dunk that it will to most, even though this sort of wild brawl is usually my kind of bout. Actually, it still is, because this was still an awesome match and an easy nomination. I just don't see it being a top 10 match for me.

Kerry & Kevin Von Erich vs. Missing Link & Killer Khan (Freebirds Interrupt) (13:05)

I question somewhat whether this should go on as a match or just an extra, as 13:05 is the running time of the entire segment, not just the match. Match itself is a bit on the short side, and is sandwiched by the big, episode-long angle of Khan being introduced as the newest member of Devastation Inc. and the Freebirds throwing a fit. Really, all of this stuff belongs on the set as extras anyway, and I think the action here is good enough that it might belong on the set as a match proper, but I'm a little torn. I'll throw it up here and see where it goes.

Terry Gordy vs. Chris Adams

Man, for being the two guys who probably had the best reputations as workers of any notable World Class dudes going into this, Gordy's and Adams' matches against each other sure haven't been that impressive thus far. To be fair, this one was en route to being (and perhaps still was) their best effort yet, but it's cut short as Gordy, still furious over Khan's betrayal, chucks Adams over the top rope and gets DQ'd before too long.

Buddy Roberts vs. Weingroff (?)

JIP. Roberts has been in a war of words with David Manning. Manning accidentally on purpose causes Weingroff to win, and then Roberts finally blows his stack and the two get into a scuffle.

Freebirds Interview/ Buddy Roberts Interview (5:15)

Probably not extra material.

Parsons vs. Wild Bill Irwin

We get another solid bout between the 2. Irwin takes some real great bumps in this bout. I loved his Race bump. Still not enough for a nomination.

Kevin, JYD, Adams, & Strongbow vs. Hayes, Roberts, Garvin & Khan

Sure we get Kahn and Kevin tossed out, but we still have a damn good bout. I loved the heels top level stooging early on. The heel team was on fire. Adams and Strongbow were good in their roles. Strongbow could have been better in his FIP role. Loved how none of the heels wanted to tag in to fight the dog. Their are better 6 mans that are on the set, but this is a damn good one that doesn't invole the V.E. Nomination.

Jimmy Garvin & Precious vs. Chris Adams & Stella Mae (Cage)

I liked this bout and will cosign it as a nom. Stella Mae was good here thanks to Garvin, and Precious getting killed here. I miss Garvin also who has been a real gem so far here. Adams missed splash from the top of the cage was huge. Neat little finish too. If not a nom, an extra.

Michael Hayes vs. Chris Adams

Both men worked hard here. Still I thought they didn't click. I also hated that finish. Not a nomination.

All the other bouts aren't worth mentioning or i've talked about them earlier except one.

Kerry & Kevin Von Erich vs. Missing Link & Killer Khan

This was solid work from both teams, but the pre and post match overshadow the bout. If the bout was awesome that wouldn't have happened. This is an extra.

Decision Pole Match for the vacant American Tag Titles: Iceman King Parsons vs. Wild Bill Irwin (7/4/84)

Yet again another singles match for the tag titles when both of their partners was in a match earlier in the card which was fucking ridiculous. Irwin bumps like a maniac taking a full on Jerry bump to the fucking floor which was nuts for a man of his size then followed up by missing a running splash into the corner hitting the pole shoulder first. Iceman is full on Dusty here with the flip flop and fly and the diving elbows which made me wonder why Dusty didn't work a Butt Butt into his repertoire. Irwin takes the advantage though hitting his big bicycle kick and works Iceman over before he hits some dropkicks to regain the advantage for a short time as he missed a big diving body press from the second rope. Iceman would sneak in an inside cradle as Irwin tried to suplex him to get the really quick pinfall before Irwin starts whipping him. I liked this more than any of the other matches but still not a nomination mostly due to the quickness of the finish.

"Gentleman" Chris Adams, Junkyard Dog, Jules Strongbow, & Kevin Von Erich vs. "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin, Michael Hayes, Killer Khan, & Buddy Roberts (5/28/84)

This has quite the WAR feel to it in the pairings. Kevin & Khan get eliminated immediately because they couldn't quit fighting so it quickly becomes a six-man. It's funny watching the Freebirds trying to tell Khan what's going on without Khan's personal translator in Gordy around. This may be the best I've ever seen Jules Strongbow look because the heels here are like shoe said top level stooging bumping heels which Jules never had in WWF. I also really love the interactions between the Birds & JYD calling back to their mega feud 3-4 years ago and the heels scrambling away as Hayes went for the tag before Buddy reluctantly tagged in. Adams & Garvin are awesome against each other of course and Adams lights up Hayes with a Superkick as he tried to help Garvin. Jules was pretty good as the FIP here and Adams was great getting the hot tag hitting 3 Superkicks on all the heels ala Dusty. Stella Mae woulld show up and hit Garvin allowing Adams to drop him with the Superkick to get the win. I fucking loved all of this and this is a definite nomination.

Iceman King Parsons & Buck Zumhofe vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry "Bamm Bamm" Gordy & Buddy Roberts) (7/9/84)

We miss the first fall here due to technical difficulties. The story here was that Gordy won the first fall using the ropes so Iceman would cradle up Gordy in 90 seconds using the ropes to even the sides with Iceman getting the house mic and calling Gordy a big dummy which was great. The third fall was fine but nothing special although Gordy & Iceman had a fun exchange. This did set up though the Buddy & David Manning feud as David punched Buddy which Gordy thought was hilarious. Very funny stuff.

Stella Mae comes driving up in her big rig which was a pretty cool entrance I must say and I think the big problem I had with Stella Mae was that she was kicking the ass of main event heels. If her gimmick was a midcard act then that would be different.

Losers Leaves Town Steel Cage Match: “Gentleman” Chris Adams & Stella Mae French vs. “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin & Precious (7/4/84)

Sunshine was in drug rehab at this time or something so they created the Stella Mae French character here who was so horrible but got over like a freight train. Garvin wears black trunks here which is a rarity at this time. Great heat here as expected and Adams was relentless dishing out the offense to Garvin as well as Stella Mae who was fighting like man which she probably was a hermaphrodite anyway. Garvin would get some offense in before Adams nuked him with a backdrop suplex. Garvin would try to climb the cage but got his tights pulled down showing his ass before Adams would miss a huge splash off the top of the cage. Garvin would again go back on offense but Stella Mae would come in to turn a Boston Crab by Garvin into a cradle by Adams to win the match and send the Garvin’s packing. This was really fun and deserves a nomination.

World Class TV Title: "Gentleman" Chris Adams © vs. Michael Hayes (7/16/84)

Adams mocking Hayes' taking off his jacket schtick was pretty good. Adams was in full on MUGA mode here on the mat getting out of Hayes' headscissors Nishimura style then tying up Hayes' legs on the mat. After this we got some really fun action as Hayes was pretty rough here when on offense with Adams being solid selling before he would hit a Superkick out of nowhere. Hayes would recover and tried to hit a cross body block but bounced off the top rope and crashed to the floor. Hayes would still fight though and just pounded Adams' head into the turnbuckle until David Manning would call for the DQ since he hates the Freebirds. The action was really good here but goddamn did that finish blow and kills it's chance at a nomination.

Next we get a slam dunk extra with Akbar bringing out the newest member of Devastation Inc. in Killer Khan and running down the Freebirds which brings out Hayes who talks shit to Akbar before attacking him forcing Link to attack him then Khan would reluctantly help at first before officially joining in. The fans even shrieked here as Khan turned on his former friend. Gino then is in the middle of cutting a promo about Stella Mae before the Freebirds angrily run him off with Gordy finally showing up and he totally goes nuts about Khan turning. This is fucking tremendous.

Badstreet Match for the vacant World Class Six-Man Tag Titles: The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy, Michael Hayes, & Buddy Roberts) vs. Kerry, Kevin, & Mike Von Erich (7/4/84)

Is there any doubt on this match as it was so fucking awesome as everyone just beat the holy shit out of each other. Grand slam nomination.

Killer Khan & The Missing Link vs. Kerry & Kevin Von Erich (7/16/84)

Gordy & Hayes want to face the heels here themselves but they are sent to the back by David Manning. The action here is fierce as these four have had their problems with each other over the past few weeks especially Kevin & Khan and Manning has a hard time to keep control early in the match. The match then settles down into Kerry just getting his ass beat by the heels before Khan would miss a diving kneedrop allowing Kevin to get the hot tag and the house cleaning begins into a wild brawl before the Freebirds show up to get their pounds of flesh from the heels prompting Manning to call for the DDQ. This isn't a nomination but it is a slam dunk extra.

World Class TV Title: "Gentleman" Chris Adams © vs. Terry "Bamm Bamm" Gordy (7/23/84)

Gordy is like a ticking timebomb here still pissed off about Khan turning on him so he takes it out on Adams here just beating his ass before Adams finally has enough and starts firing back but Gordy decides to just chunk him over the top rope. Very short match but fun.

George Weingroff vs. Buddy Roberts (7/23/84)

The purpose of this is to further the Roberts/Manning feud.
