1. Jeff Jarrett vs Buddy Roberts

This is a chain match and I hated it.

- Jerry Lawler video

2. Jerry Lawler vs Kerry Von Erich

It's amazing to see the reaction Lawler gets from the crowd. He just does some awesome hide the foreign object spots and gets big time heat. The heat from the crowd at the finish almost sounds like a riot is a coming. Not a nomination for me though.

3. Eric Embry vs Gary Young - cage match

This was alright while it lasted.

4. Kerry Von Erich, Matt Borne, + Jeff Jarrett vs Buddy Roberts, Cactus Jack, + Killer Brooks

This is an elimination match. A nice brawl to start. Things settle down and we get KVE and Cactus Jack to start things. KVE wants a piece of Roberts. Which is his downfall because it leads to his DQ. The Jarrett/Cactus Jack sequence was nice. Overall this was solid, but not a nomination.

- Frank Dusek suspends Skandar Akbar for life

This is a rip off of the Lawler/Idol cage match with Rich angle. This wasn't as good, but still should be considered as an extra.

- Frank Dusek is suspended from WCCW

5. Iceman Parsons + Brickhouse Brown vs Chris Adams + Jimmy Jack Funk

This was fun. The teased spike piledriver of Adams was awesome. Brown and Adams both looked superb. The match ran out of t.v time and is thrown out. Not a nomination.

6. Shaun Simpson vs Beauty - karate glove match

This was crap.

int: Jerry Lawler

Another good interview from The King. A possible extra.

7. Eric Embry + Mil Mascaras vs Buddy Roberts + Super Zodiac

A ball bat on a pole match. The heels were awesome stooging and bumping off of Mil's offense. Embry was simply awesome in his FIP role. I dug the heat segment where the heels worked over Embry's ribs. Even with the bat shenanigans I thought this was some good stuff, and a nomination. All 4 wrestlers looked great here.

8. Bruiser Brody vs Abdullah the Butcher - cage match; Cotton Bowl

Been talked about elsewhere.

This starts with Mulligan cutting a great promo about the babyfaces in World Class.

Chain Match: Jeff Jarrett vs. Buddy Roberts (3/31/89)

This is JIP and it was pretty boring to be honest although the finish was cute.

Next is a Jerry Lawler set to Crazy From The Heat by David Lee Roth.

Then we get clips of Lawler vs. Kerry from 4/7/89 and this was fun although we got quite a view of Lawler’s bulge as the camera was focused on his hidden foreign object. This is a definite extra due to the finish which helped fuel up the Harold Harris angle even more.

Loser Leaves Town Steel Cage Match for the Texas Heavyweight Title vs. Hair – SR: Frank Dusek: “Gorgeous” Gary Young © vs. “Flamboyant” Eric Embry (4/7/89)

This was very short but very fun with some tremendous crowd heat and a slam dunk extra.

Elimination Match: Maniac Matt Borne, Jeff Jarrett, & “Modern Day Warrior” Kerry Von Erich vs. Killer Brooks, Cactus Jack, & Buddy Roberts (4/21/89)

Kerry gets DQed early by Harold Harris who is still turning which was heated then Cactus was eliminated twice by Jarrett with Harris not counting proper the first time but proper the second time. Cactus would come back though to cost Jarrett to be eliminated by Roberts. Borne would then eliminate the other two back to back to get the win in a fun finish. This was pretty fun but not a nomination

Then we get clips of Embry vs. Akbar in a cage on 4/21where Cactus & Super Zodiac (Gary Young) destroyed Embry & Dusek prompting Dusek to suspend Akbar for life. Dusek then gets suspended by the board of govenors and Akbar’s suspension doesn’t count. Slam dunk extra.

“Gentleman” Chris Adams & Jimmy Jack Funk vs. Brickhouse Brown & Iceman King Parsons (4/28/89)

The Black Birds aren’t that quite yet but this is their first match as a team. This was a damn good match with all four men looking really good. The match ends in a no contest as all four men won’t quit fighting against each other but Lowrance says that it was a TV time limit issue so there wasn’t really a clear reason why the match was stopped. A finish might’ve gotten this a nomination.

The legendary Max Andrews shows up to talk about Frank Dusek before Embry shows up pleading the case for Dusek and this starts the whole end of World Class saga. Extra material.

Karate Glove: Shaun Simpson vs. Beauty (Terrence Garvin) (5/5/89)

This was a novel concept but lasts a minute before the KO.

Lawler then cuts a promo with Lowrance and this is tremendous. Extra material.

Baseball Bat on a Pole: “Flamboyant” Eric Embry & Mil Mascaras vs. Buddy Roberts & Super Zodiac (Gary Young) (5/5/89)

Mil looked awesome here as the heels were bumping and selling their asses off making Mil look like a million bucks. The crowd was super hot for Mil and even hotter for Embry when he played the FIP as the heels keyed on his injured ribs. Percy Pringle was also very effective in his role as Embry’s manager getting the crowd even more into it. The bat would fall off the pole of course which seemed to happen a lot in World Class but they worked around the mistake. Mil would finally get the hot tag which would set off a 4-way brawl although Embry would dropkick Mil by mistake allowing Zodiac to get the bat but he would hit Roberts by mistake. Mil would then hit Roberts with a cross body block off the top rope for the win as the crowd goes nuts. I liked this a lot and think it should be on the block.

Jerry Lawler vs Kerry Von Erich

The Harold Harris angle isn't doing it for me any better than the Embry suspension angle was, as now it's being re-worked where Harris has gone from being a competent official who came off as being unfairly targeted to being a clueless putz who no one will sympathize with. Like they realize his character hadn't actually done anything wrong, so they had to just throw him under the train here. Blech.

Loser Leaves Town Steel Cage Match for the Texas Heavyweight Title vs. Hair – SR: Frank Dusek: “Gorgeous” Gary Young © vs. “Flamboyant” Eric Embry (4/7/89)

There's still a little bit of a bitter aftertaste from the suspension angle going on here, but for the most part, this is a return to form for everyone involved, and I support it as an extra.

Elimination Match: Maniac Matt Borne, Jeff Jarrett, & “Modern Day Warrior” Kerry Von Erich vs. Killer Brooks, Cactus Jack, & Buddy Roberts (4/21/89)

This match is being totally slept on. Great wild brawl early on. This is another match built largely around Harold Harris, as the first three eliminations are all built around him making controversial decisions, but I liked this a lot better than the Kerry/Lawler match where he was booked as an incompetent fool. Here he is back to being a capable ref who makes reasonable but unpopular decisions, which I can swing with. First elimination comes when Kerry won't release the Iron Claw on Buddy even though Kerry isn't the legal man. The faces aren't happy, but they're fired up and out for blood, so it's an understandable reaction. Harris makes a more questionable call when he rules an apparent pinfall by Jarrett on Cactus Jack as a two-count, much to Jeff's consternation. Cactus uses the distraction to sneak in a nasty left hook that looked like it might have been a rabbit punch, but Jeff has it together to grab a sunset flip that eliminates Jack for real. Unfortunately, Jack comes back when Harris is distracted trying to break up a Borne/Brooks brawl in the far corner and shoves Jarrett off of the top rope, allowing Buddy to eliminate him. Borne is left against Brooks and Buddy, and Harris' officiating ceases to be a major factor in the match as Borne manages to outmaneuver his foes, grabbing a small package to pin Brooks, and then almost immediately catching Buddy with a huge belly-to-belly to win the match. So the Harris stuff was well done, and it actually added to the match rather than distract from it. Plenty of action here, with Jarrett, Foley, and Borne being the standouts. I loved the Jarrett/Cactus exchanges, and their eliminations were done perfectly. Brooks is kinda bad at this point, but he didn't really hold the match back. This feels like an easy nomination to me.

The saga is taking a turn for the better. Extras.

Max Andrews/Eric Embry Interview

Extra.

int: Jerry Lawler

Another solid promo from The King.

Embry attacks Akbar and Cactus

Embry gets a measure of revenge for his hospitalization, hitting the ring after a Cactus Jack squash and beating him and Akbar with a wooden plank. Cactus takes the Nestea Plunge. Possible extra.

Baseball Bat on a Pole: “Flamboyant” Eric Embry & Mil Mascaras vs. Buddy Roberts & Super Zodiac (Gary Young) (5/5/89)

Mils Mascaras (like Porkchops Cash, I guess) was off the hook here. Great early brawling with the heels, and then puts on a clinic with a ton of luchariffic armdrags and submissions. The heels lay into Embry something fierce in his FIP section, and Embry looks fantastic as usual. The gimmick didn't work out the way they planned, but this is still a great match, and it moves forward.
