Posted December 10, 200816 yr comment_5436325 OK, that's a bit of a misnomer, as Reed gets sent to the back after a great opening segment involving an arm-wrestling contest with Kerry and a sneak attack gone awry, and afterwords, Reed gets sent to the back, and Kerry opts to join him in the name of fair play, so it's actually a straight tag with Parsons and Young against the PYTs. This was a little borderline, because the ending kinda sucks, and after the opening part, you really want to see Reed and Kerry tie it up. Plus, if you watched the Mid-South set, you probably want to see Reed and Skip Young square off again. And Reed and Parsons, just because. I'm nominating it anyway because what we're left with is still an awesome, action-packed match. Really cool getting to see Parsons go up against Koko B. Ware. These are two guys with a lot in common on the surface level. At certain points earlier in the set, I was wondering to myself "why did Iceman never get a WWF run?", and then I'd remember "oh yeah, Koko". Figured WWF already filled their shuckin' and jivin' undersized black babyface quota, and while Iceman eventually turns heel, maybe they still thought it was too much of a redundancy. No matter. Important thing is I was excited that I'd be able to do a head-to-invincible-head comparison, and after one match-up, there's no clear winner. I hope they have a million more.
October 17, 200916 yr comment_5445215 Parsons/Sugar/Kerry Von Erich vs. Reed/Pyt's This is a 2 out of 3 fall bout. First we get a fun little piece of business with V.E and Reed doing an arm wrestling challenge. This was fun and Reed was great at selling his injury. This takes out Reed and KVE from the bout, and makes me want to see them in a bout. I thought the 1st fall was solid, but some of the timing seemed off a tad. Though the 1st fall lead to some great work from Ware on Sugar's neck in the 2nd fall. Plus I thought the 3rd fall was a ton of fun too. I'm on the fence on this bout. I'll give it a lukewarm nomination..
December 9, 200915 yr comment_5446281 2 out of 3 falls: Iceman King Parsons & Sweet Brown Sugar vs. The Pretty Young Things (Norvell Austin & Koko Ware) (9/3/84) I fucking loved this match as these guys were great against each other plus you get Iceman against Koko which is an extremely rare matchup. Everyone had their working boots on plus they got time and it was all action. Easy nomination.
June 25, 201015 yr comment_5452378 Kerry Von Erich, Iceman King Parsons, & Skip Young vs. Butch Reed & The Pretty Young Things (2/3 falls) (24:42), WCCW Fort Worth 7/4 - 11/5/84 (Disc 1) - Butch Reed nd Kerry Von Erich have an arm wrestling contest to begin with and after Kerry win, all hell breaks loose and Kerry throws Reed into the table, injuring Reed right off the bat. The PYTS refuse to fight 2 on 3 so Kerry offers to leave to make it a tag match. The early stuff with Iceman taking out both Things was awesome. Even while he ahs Norvell in the headlock, kicking away Koko’s hand was cool. Young and Ice try to control Norvell with headlocks but Ice gets injured and the PYTs take over. On an UGLY spot. He gets the hot tag to Young but a powerslam followed by a flying lariat give the PYTs the first fall. Solid action in the first but not in nomination territory yet. - 2nd fall, PYTs work Young over with some nice offense but Koko is working a fucking nerve hold. Come on KOKO!!! Young gets the hot tag to Ice who cleans house, sets Young up to deliver a nice missile dropkick and the 2nd fall. So far, so good. - 3rd fall, Young and Ice go back to their headlock work and as they seem to have things in control, Butch Reed comes back in and press slams Ice. The beatdown ends in a DQ but Kerry Von Erich comes and makes the save. This is another match I am torn on. The match with Kerry and Reed would have been so much better but this may need to go forward since it features the PYTs in a solid tag and they won’t really be represented on this set.
