Posted December 10, 200816 yr comment_5436345 I think this might've been the match Phil wrote about under the 6/18/82 date. Really good brawl. Hogan bled heavily at the end (Andre wiped it all over his face in a nice heelish touch.) But he rallied to slam Andre post-bell. It should move forward though we should figure out whether it's the same match Phil nominated. Appears on NJ TV 12/24/82 and on NJ Classics 136
August 17, 200916 yr comment_5442890 Yeah this should be the Andre v. Hogan match on the set. I love Andre's cravat and both guys went at. I think this was the match I nominated, but even if it wasn't lets put this one on.
August 21, 200916 yr comment_5443141 Early on, I love how Hogan escaped the Big Butt in the corner because when Andre finally nails it, it just means more. Also, Hogan established early on that he has the strength to go toe to toe with Andre where the other nominated Hogan-Andre matches were Andre abusing HOgan with looooooong nerve holds and chinlocks. Much different story here. Also, Andre is much more animated with the crowd here than he was in the other matches. Andre has two enemies... Hogan and the crowd that chants Hogan throughout the match. When these guys go to the restholds, they always stay active such as Hogan trying to counter the leglock by hooking Andre in a chinlock. Unlike a match like Hogan-Inoki (the one I hated) where they just laid around for five minutes at a time, these guys kept moving to keep the match from getting stale. Leaving Hogan in a bloody mess gives it bonus points but I wish the blood came earlier when they could have worked it in the match. The post-match redeemed the edning and I am happy to move this forward. Not a slam dunk but the best match I have seen between the two.
