Shaun & Steve Simpson vs. John Tatum & Jack Victory (7/4/88)

This is Steve's first match from being blinded at Texas Stadium 2 months earlier. Tatum gets worked over good early selling like a madman trying to get a jumping tag to Victory as Simpson has him in armbar twice so on the 3rd attempt, Simpson swings him right into the corner where he knocks Victory flat to the floor. Victory finally makes it to the ring where he gets his punishment from the Simpsons along with Tatum who wanted some more. The heels would get the advantage though and would give Steve the Jason Sterling treatment as they heaved him by the arms and legs to the floor although he took a safer bump. Tatum & Victory then worked very well as a team on offense and they were a pretty underrated team at this time. Shaun would get the hot tag leading to a 4-way brawl and in the confusion Steve would reverse a Victory cross body block for the pin. Tatum would then nail Steve with his boot after the match. I liked this and I'm throwing it on the block for a low-end nomination.

The Simpsons are a solid blow job tag team, and Victory and Tatum are a good heel team. I always wondered if Tatum would have made a good member of the MX. This starts out hot. Tatum was pretty awesome with his selling here. The face in control segment was really good and full of energy. That bump that Shaun Simpson took off the heave ho looked crippling. Tatum was working with a mean streak here. The heels did a good job working over Simpson's back. This is a nomination, and the heat here feels like it's the glory days. Hayes did a good job with the book livening up the shows.

Shaun & Steve Simpson vs. John Tatum & Jack Victory, 7/4/88 (WCCW 5-7/88)

- Oh shit, Steve and the heels do the exact opening that Ice did with the PYTs. Freaking weird I should watch these so close together. The Simpsons try to tag using the old Fantastics switch in and out fo the armbar but Tatum breaks it up with a side slam. However, the Simpsons quickly get their shine back and both heels have to regroup. When the heels take over, this really steps up a notch. Holy shit, the Blondes throw one of the Simpsons over the top rope in a NASTY spot. Then they proceed to cheat and cut off the ring. The Simpsons get the hot tag (I can’t tell them apart but the heels look like they are back in control but Victory’s flying body press is rolled through for a pin. Shit Tatum and Victory are pissed and Tatum tries to blind one of them but they escape. Hell, that floor bump might be enough too pass this one through but this a solid mid-level nomination. BEfore I move this one on I want to watch the other match between the two teams.
