This had some 1983 stuff to start.

“Flamboyant” Eric Embry vs. The Shadow (9/19/88)

Shadow is some masked guy billed from Mexico with lots of chest hair and shows some ability. Embry would win fairly easily.

Super Black Ninja (Keiji Muto) vs. Skip Young (9/19/88)

A squash match.

Then we get promos from Gordy, Irwin, & Kendall.

Texas Tag Titles & Wild West Tag Titles vs. World Class Tag Titles: Jimmy Jack Funk & “Hollywood” John Tatum © vs. The Samoan Swat Team (Fatu & Samu) © (9/19/88)

This is to unify all the tag titles in the company in a heel vs. heel match. This was interesting to say the least as both teams were definitely working heel with the SST looking really good. Tatum wanted to use weapons but couldn’t so the fans started chanting “kill the referee” which was funny. Tatum would get the hot tag before it went to a 4-way brawl and would end in a double clothesline with Samu & Buddy using Buddy’s belt to win the titles.

Iceman & Akbar then cut a promo about slapping punks before Buddy & SST celebrate over winning the titles.

Kendall Windham vs. Killer Brooks (9/19/88)

Nothing much to this until Iceman & Akbar show up to scout Kendall and taunt Harvey Martin. Iceman then got involved after the match and Kendall gets a pin on him after the match.

Botswana Beast vs. Playboy Vince Apollo (9/19/88)

Squash and Gordy does commentary.

Lawler & Von Erich then do taped promos setting up their future matches. Extra material.

Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy vs. Iceman King Parsons (9/19/88)

Alright maybe now we can get a good longer match with these two. Iceman tells Gordy before the match that he is going to JAP SLAP him but Gordy beats him to it which was fucking great. Gordy pounds on him until Iceman fakes going to the floor and attacks Gordy from behind. Iceman busts Gordy open and attacks him both in the ring and out but Gordy would come back with a running clothesline. Gordy would go for the Oriental Spike but the Botswana Beast would interfere again for the DQ but Gordy would leave the ring before the double-team started to get a steel chair to run them off. About the same as their other match.

“Flamboyant” Eric Embry vs. The Shadow (9/19/88)

Really good match. They're hyping up a (presumably fictional) tournament in Mexico where the winner will challenge Embry for the Light Heavyweight Title. Aside from giving Harvey Martin the opportunity to say "don't forget about Fishman", it all seems to be building up a showdown between Embry and Mil Mascaras, which sounds like it would be awesome. Did that ever happen?

Texas Tag Titles & Wild West Tag Titles vs. World Class Tag Titles: Jimmy Jack Funk & “Hollywood” John Tatum © vs. The Samoan Swat Team (Fatu & Samu) © (9/19/88)

Weird, weird match. This had all the ingredients of a nomination-worthy bout, but just couldn't seem to find the right recipe for it. Tatum was great goofing on the SSTs early. You just know he's gonna get his ass kicked. But he doesn't. In fact, he dominates early on. Seriously, Tatum is booked as the stronger member of his team, and as a guy who can beat down the SSTs. What the fuck? I mean, the SSTs can work as a blowjob babyface team, but they do that when they're working against Kamala and the Botswana Beast, not fucking John Tatum! Then Funk is tagged in, and he plays FIP. Tatum is going to be fiery babyface on the apron? The work here is really good. It's rare that I see a match where the work is this good yet the match as a whole just doesn't work because the structure is so broken.

Iceman King Parsons IS The Punkslapper! Theaters this Friday.

Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy vs. Iceman King Parsons (9/19/88)

Iceman King Parsons IS The Japslapper! This was action-packed, but too short for a nomination. Could be an extra, though. Has the added bonus of Marc Lowrance and Harvey Martin trying and failing to pronounce the name "Chigusa Nagayo".
