World Class Tag Titles: The Samoan Swat Team (Fatu & Samu) © vs. Michael “PS” Hayes & Chief Wahoo McDaniel (12/9/88)

Wahoo in World Class is odd but he was a legend in Dallas for years. SST coming out to Don’t Worry Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin is still hilarious to me. Wahoo fires in the chops on Samu and the fans are really into seeing Wahoo here. Hayes plays FIP here and is awesome in that role with the SST just taking it to him and selling the beating very well. Hayes would hit a DDT on Samu and slowly worked his way to the hot tag on Wahoo who would clean house by clunking the SST’s heads together which they no-sold of course with the story being that Wahoo forgot about their Samoan heritage but Wahoo would hold his own fighting back. Roberts would throw a chair in the ring that Hayes would get and would crack it over the SST’s heads as Bronko Lubich calls for the DQ. I liked this even with the shitty finish and I’m throwing it on the block.

I looooooooove the SSTs using "Don't Worry, Be Happy" as their theme music. Absolutely one of my favorite wrestler/theme combos ever. I also love me some Wahoo McDaniel, but he is pretty washed up by this point, and Hayes looks like he's starting to give up the ghost himself. The SSTs keep this interesting, but it's not much more than that.
