Posted January 30, 200917 yr comment_5436959 Buck Zumhoffe vs. Jake Roberts This was OK. Not a big Zumhoffe fan. Ric Flair vs. Chris Adams (NWA World Title Match) Good but not great match with a dopey finish even by World Class standards. Interesting to see Flair working face here, though. Chris Adams/Gary Hart Interview Adams is pretty chill with Hart getting him DQ'd. The Fantastics vs. The Pretty Young Things (American Tag Team Titles Match) Fun enough. The PYTs were looking really good here, but Bobby Fulton annoyed the shit out of me, and I'm not usually as down on Fulton as most people are. Chic Donovan vs. Skandor Akbar Akbar is a pretty entertaining micworker, but he is really not very good at all in the ring. This goes on way too long. Kevin Von Erich vs. Chris Adams This is their Thanksgiving Star Wars match, which I've talked about elsewhere already. Buck Zumhoffe & Jules Strongbow vs. Bill Irwin & Kelly Kiniski This was OK. Not much to it, though. Iceman King Parsons vs. Rip Oliver Very good match, but not on par with their awesome rematch from Christmas Star Wars. PWI Award Presentation Ceremony Mike Von Erich in named Rookie of the Year, Kerry is Most Popular, Kevin is Man of the Year. Not particularly interesting. Billy Jack vs. Tony Falk Straightforward squash for Billy Jack. Kerry & Kevin Von Erich vs. The Yet-to-Be-Officially-Decreed Dynamic Duo Not the best bout these teams would ever have against one another. Kerry Von Erich, Mike Von Erich, & Bobby Fulton vs. Gino Hernandez, Chris Adams, & Jake Roberts (NWA World Six-Man Tag Team Titles Match) Well, it was shaping up to be a great bout, but the DVD ends suddenly part way through.
January 4, 201016 yr comment_5446867 Hitting up stuff I haven't seen and the first match which was the full version of a clipped one earlier. American Tag Titles: The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) © vs. The Pretty Young Things (Norvell Austin & Koko Ware) (11/22/84) PYT’s are on their way out to Florida so it’s jobbin time. There was some real sloppy stuff to start the match but it would settle back to normal after the PYT’s get sent to the floor and the Fants would start their control section as they came back in the ring. Rogers would look great and ate a fucking stiff shoulderblock by Norvell before getting back up and taking the fight back to him. Fulton would come in though and although he was fine it seemed like there was quite a bit of miscommunication going on between him & both PYT’s throughout the match but he does throw some great punches. Rogers would play FIP of course and the PYT’s would really put him through it as the crowd goes nuts. PYT’s use lots of double-team moves in the corner and Rogers is like a pinball here but he would fight out of a hole slipping through Norvell’s legs to get the hot tag to Fulton. Fulton would get the pin on Norvell after he accidentally hit Koko with a diving axehandle off the top rope and the Fants retained their titles. This was great fun and an easy nomination. “Golden Boy” Chick Donovan vs. “General” Skandor Akbar (11/22/84) These two have had a small feud going for a little while so they have a match at Reunion on Thanksgiving. Akbar works Chick’s left leg over really well before Chick returns the favor and uses various legholds before Akbar breaks away. Chick would regain control though and went back to the left leg and this match felt very New Japanish here with both men just working over the left leg of the other. This was really fun until the bandaged up Killer Khan shows up to attack Chick bringing out Gordy to make the save. Jules Strongbow & “Rock n Roll” Buck Zumhofe vs. Wild Bill Irwin & Kelly Kiniski (6/22/84) This was just average.
