This had the big fight feel. Choshu came out guns blazing with a dropkick and two lariats. Inoki mounted a pretty great comeback with a wild flurry of punches and enziguiris that bloodied Choshu hardway. They traded submission attempts in the build to the finish with Choshu passing out just as he got his fingers on the rope to break Inoki's octopus hold. Few were better than these guys on the big stage. This moves on.

2/4/88 Antonio Inoki vs. Riki Choshu (Sky A 95)

- Early goings, all Choshu as he jus tabuses Inoki, tossing him out of the ring, ramming him into the ringpost. Choshu gets into an argument with the ref and Inoki hits a weak enziguiri to turn the tides. Cool in theory, poor in execution. Inoki proves to be just as vcious to Choshu and Choshu opens up a gusher. Pissed off, bloody Choshu is awesome. It comes into play when Choshu tries to apply a 2nd Sharpshooter but Inoki counters by punching him in the head until he falls to his knees. Sweet. Maybe someone can comment on how Choshu’s, leg became injured because it looked botched. If Inoki gave a headbutt to a running Choshu, cool. If he just grabs his leg and kicks it afterward then lame. It gives Inoki an excuse to kick the shit out of Choshu so that is a plus. The ending was pretty dramatic but kind of bullshit… did Choshu ever win against Inoki? I love this match-up but the results are leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
