Kerry & Kevin Von Erich vs. The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael Hayes & Buddy Roberts) (2/21/86)

Hayes being pissed that the fans thought that Kerry was sexier than him was great then the strut off between them. This is one of those matches between these families that just about any combination between them is going to be at the least a very good match and this was above that line. Kevin really throws some tight punches here aiming right for the head sending Hayes running to the floor. Kerry would get caught by the Birds playing the FIP well which he normally does as the crowd is really into it with the Birds working him over with sleeper holds. Kevin would get the hot tag getting the claw on Buddy before the 4-way brawl went down. Kevin would hit a cross body block quickly on Roberts to get the win as the crowd goes nuts. The Birds would then attack the Von Erichs with Buddy getting a figure-four on Kevin as Hayes got Bronko’s belt but Kerry would break that up with a discus punch. This is a nomination.

At a certain point, you run out of things to say about these matches. Plain and simple, these guys were awesome, and this was another winner for them. All the goofy shtick at the start of the match was great, as was the action that followed. Definitely belongs.
