Posted February 7, 200916 yr comment_5437087 I've seen people slag this match as a weak effort by Fujiwara, but I didn't perceive that at all. He threw some great shootstyle headbutts, made some nifty submission attempts from his back and awesomely turned a Choshu lariat attempt into an armbar. Choshu brought his usual fire and this was about all you could ask from a midcard match that lasted less than 10 minutes. It wasn't as good as their great match from 1987, but it's another nomination from this series.
August 21, 200916 yr comment_5443127 This was kind of a minor match in their oeuvre, but was a damn great little minor match. These guys have tremendous chemistry and I loved all of the little counters, Choshu's straight punch counter of the headbutt was especially awesome, and Fujiwara is amazing at eating a lariat. Second the nomination
September 6, 200916 yr comment_5443884 I didn't dig this as much as you guys. I always look at this as a matchup that either has to build to something big like the December match I love, or something huge has to happen like Choshu getting posted before the bell rings in the 1987 classic. After the long Sharpshooter and Choshu abusing Fujiwara's legs, I thought they were going to go for a work-the-leg story but it never materialized. Good stuff in this match but I think it can be left off.
