Posted February 9, 200916 yr comment_5437098 DVD#10 ---------------------------------------------------- June 26th; The Nagoya city comprehensive gymnasium rainbow Hall Saito, Choshu vs Gaspers - More crap from the angle that just wouldn't end. IWGP Jr Heavyweight Championship / Koshinaka vs Kobayashi - The junior scene had hit a low ebb and wasn't getting much TV time. These guys could both be great, of course, but this was just move, move, kickout at two, no-sell, move, move and so on. IWGP Heavyweight Championship / Tatsumi Fujinami vs Vader - They worked at a slower pace than in their previous two matches, with Vader using his weight to wear down Fujinami and Fujinami taking time to sell the damage to his back. I would like to have seen a little more chopping down from Fujinami before he became the first native to pin Vader cleanly. But the moment really worked for the crowd and continued Fujimani's big '88 (which could rank with any year anybody had in the '80s from what I've seen.) They worked really well together and this was no exception, though I liked it less than the other two meetings I nominated. It should move forward. July 15th: Korakuen Hall Kobayashi, SS Machine vs Fernandez, Sawyer - Manny and Buzz were a really fun team but weren't given much TV time to shine. Fujinami, Sakaguchi vs Vader, Saito - Good while it lasted, with Vader reasserting himself against Fujinami and Sakaguchi doing his job as the tough old hand. But it degenerated into a clusterfuck of ref-killing and outside brawling before it could contend for a nomination. IWGP Heavyweight throne challenger decisive league match / Kimura vs Choshu - This was pretty entertaining. I like kickboxing Kimura more than any other version, and the crowd got behind him pretty vociferously. I never got the sense that Choshu was in danger, however.
