Posted February 19, 200520 yr comment_749118 I know this is an old topic and has been covered ad nauseum at other boards and in the mags... but fuck it... the board is new. I'm calling GTA: San Andreas my favorite game of the year and maybe my favorite game of all-time. I'll elaborate later but if anyone else has any other selections I would be interested in hearing them.
February 20, 200520 yr comment_761196 Burnout 3 in a landslide. Nothing else I played was even close.
February 20, 200520 yr comment_761322 Burnout 3 has gotten an insane amount of good press, so it's a legitimate contender. I hate to say it, but I think Halo 2 is probably the most deserving game of the year. Not only did they improve over a game that was the killer app for the XBox, but they pulled in an outstanding multiplayer experience that is probably the best in console online gaming. Halo 2 raises the XBox and XBox Live to a whole new level, so it would be my pick. If we're including PC games into discussion, though, it's probably Half-Life 2 in a landslide.

I'd also like to throw out ESPN College Hoops 2K5 out there as well -- not only is it the best basketball game of the year, but it makes a push for the best GAME of year. The game just plays so smooth and the atmosphere and controls are superb. It takes all the things about college basketball and does it right.
February 20, 200520 yr comment_773363 There were a bunch of worthy contenders this year, but I'd give San Andreas the nod over Burnout 3 because of the fact that I can pick up San Andreas for about 20-30 minutes and gamble, fly to three cities, base jump, go off-roading and steal a train, among other things. Burnout is close though, the Crash mode is like crack. I'd give a nod to ESPN NFL 2K5 as well. Great alternative to Madden.
February 20, 200520 yr Author comment_775368 To be honest, I haven't played Burnout 3. I had Burnout 2 and had fun for awhile but it got old quick. What makes 3 so different and improved from 2?
