DVD #17

NJ TV 2/29/88

Fujiwara/Kimura vs. Ray Candy/Samurai Warrior - It was fun to watch Fujiwara deliver a driving headbutt to Candy's ample gut, but this wasn't much overall.

Fujinami vs. Jerry Gray - Semi-competitive squash for Fujiami.

Choshu/Saito/Hase vs. Inoki/Koshinaka/Murdoch - JIP. This featured a nasty beatdown on Koshinaka. If the closing section after his hot tag had been a little richer, I might have nominated it. But there's so much good stuff involving all of these guys.

NJ TV 3/4/88

Takada/Yamazaki vs. Hase/Kobayashi - This was like a Raw or Smackdown tag setting up the title match for the next pay-per-view. It had plenty of action and Takada created some anticipation for his title challenge by pinning Hase in decisive fashion. But they ran through most of the spots and the whole thing was easy to forget after five minutes.

Inoki vs. Billy Gaspar - Like all the other Gaspars matches, this featured some lousy wrestling followed by a clusterfuck brawl. The only cool thing was Murdoch coming out to help Inoki despite a bloody bandage on his head.

Fujinami/Kimura vs. Choshu/Saito - These teams weren't going to have a bad match, but this was pretty forgettable by their standards. Choshu took the in-peril segment, which was unusual but set up a nice hot tag to Saito, who murdered Kimura with suplexes. They never built from there.
