Ginnetty 1988 season disc #26

NJ comm 1988 Top of the Super Junior part 2

Kazuo Yamazaki vs. Nobuhiko Takada - This was a fine version of the match-up--only one excruciating half-crab sequence. But it lacked the intensity of their best UWF matches. Though Yamazaki pulled the upset win, it didn't feel like any kind of moment.

Nobuhiko Takada vs. Hiroshi Hase - They did a good job of establishing Takada's ability to knock Hase loopy. So the whole first part of the match focused on Hase working to regain equilibrium while Takada tried to press his advantage. Once Hase transitioned to offense, he showed that he was the stronger wrestler. It was a good body without a head, though, as they tumbled over the rail for a double countout instead of moving to a finishing run. Given that they had a great match a month later, it's hard to nominate this one.

Shiro Koshinaka vs. Kuniaki Kobayashi - JIP. Kobayashi did everything a little more viciously than most of the other juniors. I wish they had showcased him more in this era. Anyway, the finish wasn't noteworthy enough to overcome the heavy clipping.

Shiro Koshinaka vs. Hiroshi Hase - I already reviewed this under the TV but I watched it again to make sure I didn't slag it unfairly. Nope, it was a mess.
