Ken Lucas & Ricky Morton vs. Adrian Adonis & Tully Blanchard (1/10/83)

Give Southwest credit they book some solid TV matches unlike most territories at the time. The faces work over Tully to start the match with Morton looking great until he got caught in the heels corner with Tully getting the tag to Adonis. Adonis slingshots Morton’s neck on the bottom rope setting up the heel control section as Morton plays his patented FIP role. Adonis would chunk Morton over the top rope as Jack Howell’s back was turned before crushing him with a backbreaker. Adonis would miss a running shoulderblock into the corner though setting up Morton getting the hot tag to Lucas who would clean house. Lucas would put a sleeper hold on Tully as Morton would run off Adonis but Adonis would come back off the top rope on Lucas for the DQ. Shitty finish yeah but this match was as good of a TV match I’ve seen in Southwest so far and this is a nomination.

Morton's just about perfected his routine by this point, and it shows as he gives a classic Ricky Morton performance. The heels do a great job working him over, and Lucas looks good working over the heels early and coming in off of the hot tag at the end. This moves forward.
