Posted April 26, 200916 yr comment_5438809 WCCW Digest: 6/84 - 10/84 Earl Wilburn interview (Six-man titles vacant) Freebirds vs Von Erichs - 7/4/1984 This has been talked about. Adams/French vs Garvin/Precious - 7/4/1984 I thought this was a total blast. The women would get involved just enough, but not too much to take away from the men. Adams was on fire just bringing to Garvin. that back drop that Garvin took I thought he was going to break his neck. Also the Adams missed dive from the top of the cage was huge. The finish was good booking. I'm torn on a nomination. I thought this bout served its purpose; but I'm not sure if it deserves a nomination. Gordy/Hayes vs Khan/Link - 8/13/1984 This is all 4 men in the ring at the same time. I thought this was a hell of a brawl. It was a perfect set up for Khan/Gordy. This was a tad on the short side, but it was all action. I'll give this a nomination and see where it goes. Gino Hernandez vs Mike Von Erich - 9/3/1984 Gino did all he could here. Kerry/Kevin vs Freebirds - 9/3/1984 (Cage) Mike is out from the previous bout injury. So we get a handicapped bout. This is an elimination bout/Badstreet Bout. This is an all action packed brawl. I defy anyone not to like Roberts sell job of the claw, it was badass. Kerry was the 1st eliminated after taking a nasty looking spike piledriver. Kevin was awesome in his 1 on 3 role. Kevin pinned PS. This leaves it 2 on 1. Mike comes out at the finsh. This was fun and feels like a nom. Kevin/Adams vs Gino/Jake - 9/28/1984 (Adams turns on Kevin) This was alright. Nothing to special here. The ending should go on as an extra for the Adams turn. Kevin Von Erich vs Chris Adams - 10/27/1984 (Captain's match) This has been talked about. Gino/Adams/Jake vs Kerry/Mike/Fulton - 10/27/1984 This has been talked about.
August 5, 200916 yr comment_5442551 We get the NWA ruling on the WCCW Six-Man Titles that ends in a brawl and that is an extra. Losers Leaves Town Steel Cage Match: “Gentleman” Chris Adams & Stella Mae French vs. “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin & Precious (7/4/84) Sunshine was in drug rehab at this time or something so they created the Stella Mae French character here who was so horrible but got over like a freight train. Garvin wears black trunks here which is a rarity at this time. Great heat here as expected and Adams was relentless dishing out the offense to Garvin as well as Stella Mae who was fighting like man which she probably was a hermaphrodite anyway. Garvin would get some offense in before Adams nuked him with a backdrop suplex. Garvin would try to climb the cage but got his tights pulled down showing his ass before Adams would miss a huge splash off the top of the cage. Garvin would again go back on offense but Stella Mae would come in to turn a Boston Crab by Garvin into a cradle by Adams to win the match and send the Garvin’s packing. This was really fun and deserves a nomination. Texas Tornado Match: The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy & Michael Hayes) vs. Killer Khan & The Missing Link (8/13/84) Khan had just turned heel a few weeks before so the war is on here. This wasn’t pretty and was just a wild brawl with both heel teams pounding each other. Gordy juices early here the heels work over his cut with a passion. Hayes throws some great punches here and opens up Khan who juices hard while selling it like he is going in shock. Gordy & Khan beat themselves more bloody before Hayes brings a chair in the ring where he knocks down Bronko Lubich who decides to call this match a DDQ which was a screwy finish to say the least when Devastation did nothing. Great bloody brawl here and this definitely moves forward. American Heavyweight Title: Mike Von Erich © vs. “Gorgeous” Gino Hernandez (9/3/84) The ridiculousness of Mike continues here but Gino does his best here to make this an okay match and gets the win which was great. The match also felt more of a way to further the Stella Mae angle as well. Bunkhouse Steel Cage Elimination Decision Match for the World Class Six-Man Tag Titles: The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy, Michael Hayes, & Buddy Roberts) vs. Kerry, Kevin, & Mike Von Erich (9/3/84) Kerry & Kevin start this one alone because Mike was injured in the Gino match so it’s already 3-on-2. This is yet another awesome ass kicking brawl between the families with everyone being stiff and awesome but with the elimination stipulation it made it even better because the Von Erich’s had to fight the odds from the beginning especially Kevin after Kerry was eliminated who went alone until Mike showed up at the end. Kevin getting the elimination on Hayes was good especially after throwing Hayes into the cage with the camera catching Hayes blade himself while laying on his back on the mat. Gordy hit some great piledrivers here and the bump that Buddy took off the top of the cage thanks to Mike was awesome. This was phenomenal and a grand slam nomination. Just fucking classic. “Gorgeous” Gino Hernandez & Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. “Gentleman” Chris Adams & Kevin Von Erich (9/28/84) Gary Hart is with Adams here so the time has come for the moment of truth for Adams. Stella Mae shows up as well to continue her feud with Nicola and will play a key part in this later. The match itself was just a match nothing special but the finish was pretty cool as Gino tried to suplex Adams back in the ring but Stella Mae tripped him which let Gino roll through for the pin. We had the big schmozz after the match and Adams delivered a brutal Superkick to Kevin to cement the heel turn. This is a slam dunk extra
March 26, 201015 yr comment_5448640 Earl Wilburn interview (Six-man titles vacant) Extra. Texas Tornado Match: The Fabulous Freebirds (Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy & Michael Hayes) vs. Killer Khan & The Missing Link (8/13/84) “Gorgeous” Gino Hernandez & Jake “The Snake” Roberts vs. “Gentleman” Chris Adams & Kevin Von Erich (9/28/84) Match itself is kinda dull, but the aftermath is an obvious extra.
