Posted April 27, 200916 yr comment_5438850 Bob Orton Jr. vs. “Bruiser” Bob Sweetan (4/18/83) This starts out with some armwork by Sweetan with Orton selling nicely but his selling of the punches was great as Orton was one of the best at selling being punched in the face. Orton finally breaks free from Sweetan’s armwork and starts fighting back but Sweetan would counter going for the piledriver that Orton would counter out of sending Sweetan to the floor. Orton would go to the apron and delivered a running knee to Sweetan that sent him into the ringpost in a nice spot. Orton then grinded Sweetan’s head into the ring cable before suplexing him back in the ring. Orton would then climb on the middle ring cable and dropped a diving forearm on Sweetan who was laying on the apron in another cool spot. Sweetan juices and Orton just works over the cut and Jack Howell throws the match out due to Orton going nuts. This was a hard hitting match with a crappy finish but I loved this and this goes on the block.
February 2, 201015 yr comment_5447540 This was one of those frustrating situations where they were building a great long match that was booked to run short. Slow start, but the pace picks up and we get some great action from both men, but right when it looks like the match is about to hit it's big turning point, the time limit expires. It feels incomplete, which always rubs me the wrong way, and I can't back it as a nomination.
