Posted May 7, 200916 yr comment_5439223 Jack Victory vs. Magnum TA David Peterson Really fun little match. Victory looks like one of the better dudes in the company at this point, and Magnum TA David Peterson holds up his end well enough en route to the upset victory. Mike Von Erich is presented with the PWI Inspirational Wrestler of the Year Award Mercifully edited. Apter may have wanted to hold on to that plaque a little longer. Iceman King Parsons & Mark Youngblood vs. Michael Hayes & Buddy Roberts Parsons vs. Roberts is always a fun match-up. This isn't quite nomination-worthy, but anytime those two face each other, it's worth checking out. "The Two Tragedies" You know what I'm talking about. What's worth mentioning that usually doesn't get mentioned is that the vignette where Chris Adams says his good-byes to the American fans - blinded and with his career presumably over - is actually really well-done but it gets completely overshadowed because his worked blinding is forced to share equal billing with the actual death of Gino Hernandez. I think even independently of the sleaze factor, that vignette is strong enough that it really should be included as an extra. Dynamic Duo music video ("Bad to the Bone") It's not an 80's set without music videos, and this seems like as good of one as any to include. Rick Rude vs. Lance Von Erich Good match. Lance wasn't bad from what of seen so far, but he was pretty bland in the ring. Rude is great, though, so this is enjoyable. Bruiser Brody vs. Jack Victory Not much to report here. WCWA Press Conference Ken Mantell announces that the American Title will henceforth be recognized as the WCWA World Title, and that the belt can change hands on a DQ or on a time limit draw if the referee and the timekeeper agree that the challenger was winning. So there. Rick Rude vs. Terry Allen This isn't Magnum TA, either. What was their hang-up with that guy? OK match. The Fantastics vs. The Grappler & John Tatum Oh, man, this was so much fun. Way too one-sided to nominate, but it is just an entire match of John Tatum and Missy Hyatt comedy at it's best, and I just loved it.
November 16, 200915 yr comment_5445842 Most of these bouts I've seen or just don't deserve a mention. Iceman King Parsons & Mark Youngblood vs. Michael Hayes & Buddy Roberts This was a solid bout with the Birds looking great, and Parson's was great here working Roberts. I thought Parsons and P.S mimmicking each others charisma spots was cool. Youngblood was fine, but wasn't booked to look good here. The chop that Ice threw at Roberts was wow. The Fantastics vs. The Grappler & John Tatum I'm a huge fan of the Fantastics, but nowhere near the level of this crowd. The faces shine with the great heel stooging was awesome. The Fantastics arm work and double teaming was awesome. Plus Tatum and Missy were so great here. Plus, I loved Fulton's ass wagging at Missy, and also loved how she wagged right back at him when her squad had control. Also those Roger's dropkicks were great as well. Like SLL said too 1 sided to be a nomination, but it was a fun bout.
January 4, 201015 yr comment_5446876 David Peterson vs. Jack Victory (2/7/86) Peterson had a good look and was starting to get small pushes in territories and got a nice win over the rising Victory here. The Fabulous Freebirds (Michael "PS" Hayes & Buddy Roberts) vs. Iceman King Parsons & Mark Youngblood (2/7/86) Iceman against the Birds is always fun and the chemistry was still there after being apart for a while. I don't know what was better though, Iceman & Hayes going toe-to-toe in shuckin & jivin or David Manning reffing the match in a jumpsuit. Youngblood was so much better working as an Indian than Jules Strongbow it's not even close but he would do the job here. This was fun. Bruiser Brody vs. Jack Victory (2/21/86) Brody just brutalizes Jacko. "Ravishing" Rick Rude vs. Jerry Allen (2/21/86) Rude is now a world champion and this is quite the debut for his new position. Allen could work but never got a break beyond Memphis. The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) vs. The Grappler (Len Denton) & "Hollywood" John Tatum (2/21/86) Fants are back in World Class for the next month before bolting for the UWF. This was a good showcase match for the returning Fants as their opponents were very good and sold like champs. Tatum was great in his role here along with Missy and it was matches like this that proved that Missy was at her absolute best with Tatum. Fants were solid here as well with the fans going apeshit over them. The finish sucked with Grappler throwing Rogers over the top rope for the DQ but it was understandable as the story was that the heels were so frustrated that Grappler just got tired of Rogers and threw him out. Fun stuff but not a nomination.
