Posted May 17, 200916 yr comment_5439568 An episode of World Class followed by an episode of Worldwide. I'll cover the Worldwide stuff in a seperate post in the NWA forum. This week's World Class features matches from Parade of Champions '86 Jill Floyd sings "Heaven Needed a Champion" Jill is not the most gifted singer I ever heard, though I don't think the song itself was that great to begin with. Kerry Von Erich, Lance Von Erich, & Steve Simpson vs. The Freebirds (Elimination Lumberjacks w/ Straps Match for the World Six-Man Titles) Kevin can't compete because of a separated shoulder, which kinda puts a dent in my interest right off the bat. And well, the match isn't anything special, anyhow. You can only watch Fritz whip a Freebird in the ass and make them hop around grabbing their butts so many times before it stops being funny (that number is "0", incidentally). Rick Rude vs. Bruiser Brody This is the first ever defense of the WCWA World Heavyweight Title, and is a match I actually liked quite a bit. So I have made a lot of snide remarks about Brody's no-selling, but that is not really fair to the man. Not that he never did it, but all the footage I've seen from him for this project has been pretty much no-sell free. His real problem is that he's not very good at selling, but that's another issue. This match kinda takes you by surprise because not only does Brody sell, he works Rude like he's his equal, which you don't really see him do unless it's against monsters like Kamala and Abdullah. He does a pretty good job of it, too, and the champ comes off like...well, like a champ as a result. He's not afraid to take it to Rude when he's on offense, and vice versa. Falls short of a nomination, but I was considering it.
