Episode #314 2/17/98 (Shaky)

10/10/88 Yoshiaki Fujiwara vs. Tony St. Clair

- I don’t know if you guys watched this match yet but I had a blast watching this early on. I think the shooty Fujiwara style really meshes well with the Euro style. I thought the arm work was fun and the idea that St. Clair had the match in control until he tried to attack Fujiwara’s indestructible head and Fujiwara turns the tide. I didn’t like the abrupt ending but still want you guys to watch this. Probably won’t make the cut but worth watching.

10/17/88 Yoshiaki Fujiwara/Osamu Kido vs. Steve Williams/Tony St. Clair (Sky A 108)

- Fujiwara and St. Clair continue their Euro-shooty hybrid style that I enjoy while Doc does the power game which looks weird tossing scrawny Fujiwara around. Kido didn’t do anything of note except get his ass kicked by Doc who performed a pretty nice looking flying body press and a slingshot suplex. Kido’s offense is really boring. In the stretch run, he makes the hot tag but did absolutely nothing special that I’ll remember later. Also, the stupid camera man missed the ending so no vote.

10/27/88 Yoshiaki Fujiwara vs. Steve Williams

- I think we saw on the Mid South set that Doc is a much better wrestler than people give him credit for. Early on, Doc takes control and it is fun watching Fujiwara trying to squirm and twist his way out of Doc’s leg vice. An awkward spot plays a pretty important role as it reinforces the power of Fujiwara’s head as he rams Doc into the turnbuckle. Something that Fujiwara is impervious to. It is kind of annoying especially when Doc hits a NASTY DDT a little later on and Fujiwara no-sells it. This ends in a count-out but was shaping up to be a pretty nifty match. Another no vote.
