Posted June 8, 200916 yr comment_5440404 “Mad Dog” Buzz Sawyer vs. Victor Zangiev (8/5/89) I like this matchup a lot so I hope it pans out. Zangiev would hit a swank belly to belly throw on Buzz early for a nearfall forcing Murdoch to massage his lower back in the corner. Both men were fluid here getting out of holds and both men were throwing each other around like it was nothing so this was really competitive. Zangiev locking on the sasorigatame then posing was awesome as the fans popped. Then we would get a great suplex exchange with Buzz hitting a jumping vertical suplex and Zangiev following with a high-angle backdrop suplex for nearfalls. Buzz then hit a great belly to belly on Zangiev for the win as the crowd went nuts chanting SAWYER and this was the best match of the series. This goes on the block as both men were great here especially Zangiev.
September 11, 200916 yr comment_5444039 The overhead belly to belly by Zangiev was beautiful. THen there was an error on the disc Kris sent me. SHIT@!!!!
September 12, 200916 yr comment_5444047 OK, the error on my DVD player will play with a slight hiccup in the DVD shrink window so I am watching the match there. The error on the DVD skips only a small part where Buzz has Zangiev in a headlock and he escapes. Buzz goes back to the headlock and Zangiev does his spider walk. The story here is Buzz getting Zangiev in headlocks and Zangiev finding ways to escape. He turns it around and Buzz has a nice counter to a head scissors. Zangiev grounds BUzz and hooks him in a Sharpshooter to a big pop. More matwork and this is the best Buzz has looked in a New Japan ring. The suplexes by both guys were HUGE and this is a nomination for sure. I don't know how high it will rank on my ballot but this is a match you won't forget anytime soon.
September 26, 200916 yr comment_5444545 This was about as good as a match can be without really moving beyond nifty. It's hard to build tension and drama in seven minutes, and they didn't. But almost everything in the match was cool, from the amateur counters to the devastating suplexes. Definitely Buzz's most dynamic outing in NJ. This will probably finish low for me, but people will enjoy it so I'll say yes.
September 26, 200916 yr comment_5444571 Yeah this was a ton of fun, I love the Zangiez headscissors escape, and it will be good to get some awesome Buzz on the set. Finding this kind of weird gem is my favorite thing about doing these sets.
