Posted June 10, 200916 yr comment_5440537 Probably my least favorite of their three '89 matches but still damn good. This featured a lot more flashy, complex offense than the more grounded, violent match in August. They kept trying these really difficult sequences where one guy would do a move off the top and the other would counter with an equally risky springboard. Liger appeared to botch one of those, but in general, they pulled it off. I think this has to go on as well, and it will be interesting to see how voters rank the three matches. It's a shame the great feud ender happened in Jan. 1990, because these are fun to watch in sequence.
September 19, 200916 yr comment_5444288 There are some beautiful sequences in here but it does have several things going against it. First off, it is JIP and it seems like this is the finla stretch run instead of just a few minutes trimmed from the beginning. I could be wrong but we only get about 7-8 minutes. Then you have the botched Liger springboard that they cover up nicely with Liger selling he injured his leg and Sano slapping on a Figure-Four. Still, this was the most spotastic of the Liger-Sano matches and while the other two are battling in my Top Ten/Twenty, this one might not make the cut.
September 21, 200916 yr Author comment_5444344 I watched this again Will and your take was pretty spot on. It was more JIP than I realized, and it was the spottiest of their matches. Plus, there were a few botches that counterbalanced the couple of beautiful spots. Maybe an extra on the same disc as the other two matches?
