Posted June 12, 200916 yr comment_5440623 I know Childs had an issue with the finish of this match, but it felt less like a cop out and more like a continuation of the out of control brawl feel of the finish. I loved the Saito suplexing of the big guy, it felt like he was lifting a bag of concrete. Saito is awesome here and I always enjoy Bam Bam. Consider this a nomination 1998 TV DVD #19
June 13, 200916 yr comment_5440652 This non-finish bothered me more than most, because they had built the base of a pretty good match. Bigelow attacked Saito's back with headbutts, a bearhug and a swank snap suplex. For a rugged guy who often worked heel, Saito made a hell of a plucky underdog. His suplex made a great out-of-nowhere momentum changer, and it always looked particularly good when he hoisted monsters such as Bam Bam. So yeah, things were swimming along and all of a sudden, Bigelow dumped Saito over the rail. I don't mind that finish when guys are brawling wildly or the heel is looking for an easy way out. Here, it didn't fit the story.
June 17, 200916 yr comment_5440800 10/19/88 Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Masa Saito - It looks like a squash early on with Bam Bam dominating. Saito looked like he was going to pop when trying to fight out of the bearhug. It is so weird to see Saito as spunky little underdog when he is usually the big bully. I can see both sides of the argument. Bam Bam looks like a monster and Saito plays underdog really well getting the crowd behind him. However, there are so many other matches better than this that I can’t see anyone voting this match very high. Hell, I liked the Perro tag way more than this and it probably won’t make it past the next round. No vote.
