Posted June 17, 200916 yr comment_5440833 This is it right here. A little JIP, but we still get about 8 minutes of really awesome matwork. Chavo is a true maestro and does some sweet looking stuff, that all leads to a super hot finishing run, and we are looking at one of the tip top juniors matches on this set. True hidden gem and a slam dunk. Ginnety Disc #12
June 24, 200916 yr comment_5441092 I think Phil is overrating this. Chavo Guerrero vs. Kengo Kimura (11/3/80) - Chavo was freaking awesome on the mat here. Seriously, if all juniors wrestled on the mat the way Chavo did, mat wrestling in the juniors wouldn’t be looked at as a joke. Very few big moves or bumps early on but Chavo made it interesting enough where you don’t feel like you miss it. I didn’t like the ending and there wasn’t any real reason this couldn’t have ended as smoothly as the Fujinami matches. I want to move this forward for now but if there is a better representation of Chavo on the mat, then I can see this falling off.
July 13, 200916 yr comment_5441898 I thought the ending was fine. It wasn't just a throwaway countout; Chavo took advantage of Kimura's overeagerness. Anyway, this match-up has delivered both times I've seen it. You guys touched on the early mat stuff, but they also excelled at gradually building to the more violent moves. Chavo had to be top 10 in the world in the early '80s. This should go on the set.
