Posted June 18, 200916 yr comment_5440876 Episode #372 Aired 5/12/98 12/6/89 Riki Choshu vs. Masahiro Chono - I watched this in the same sitting as the Hash/Choshu match from the following night, and the comparison left no doubt why Hash became the ace. Chono did some nice stuff in this match. He hit a sweet looking enzuigiri as a transition spot. He bled a lot. The STF was a decent submission hold. He just lacked a certain presence in going up against a guy like Choshu, who had such a powerful aura. The match was supposed to convince me that Chono had a chance, but I never felt that. He just seemed like a fairly adept guy going through the motions of a fine wrestling match. No vote. 12/6/89 Kobayashi/Sano vs. Goto/Honaga - These guys started out brawling in the crowd and exchanging weapons shots. Sano and Kobayashi flashed some impressive offense, but Goto and Honaga didn't hold up their end. 12/7/89 Masahiro Chono vs. Manny Fernandez - Chono literally got no offense for the first 10 minutes. Then, he abruptly transitioned, no-sold all the damage and won after a few moves. Shitty match.
