Posted June 22, 200916 yr comment_5441040 Episode #318 2/23/98 11/25/88 Kengo Kimura/Osamu Kido/Yoshiaki Fujiwara vs. Masa Saito/Seiji Sakaguchi/Tatsutoshi Gotoh - This had some cool Saito/Fujiwara interactions, with Fujiwara slyly baiting Saito into a double elimination. I also enjoyed Sakaguchi fending off Kido and Kimura in the home stretch. But this didn't have that one great sequence or revelatory match-up that a lot of matches in this trios tourney provided. Good match but a near-miss. 11/25/88 Antonio Inoki/Riki Choshu/Kantaro Hoshino vs. Masa Chono/Tatsumi Fujinami/Shinya Hashimoto - This didn't quite click on the highest level either. I got a kick out of Hoshino almost eliminating Hash, and Chono looked pretty good in his hopeless last stand against Choshu. But Inoki and Fujinami weren't memorable and again, it lacked a super kick-ass moment to push it over the top. I liked every match in this tourney, I think, but this definitely fell on the low end, and I nominated the rematch in the finals. So no go.
