Posted June 30, 200916 yr comment_5441333 2/25/89 Antonio Inoki vs. Ron Starr Starr controlled most of it with some decent brawling offense, but then, Inoki transitioned to offense and submitted him after a couple moves. 2/25/89 Riki Choshu/Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Sid Vicious/Paul Neu - I know Phil liked the Sid/Fujinami singles, but this just wasn't very good. 3/7/89 Tatsumi Fujinami/Kengo Kimura vs. Strong Machine/George Takano (Sky A 121) This went more than 20 minutes and featured plenty of solid work. But boy, it never really got out of second gear. It just needed some kind of dramatic moment or focused beatdown on one guy that never came. 3/7/89 Riki Choshu vs. Sid Vicious (Sky A 121) - Sid ambushed Choshu as he entered the ring and controlled most of the match with a shitty claw. Choshu bled to get the move over and after a few minutes, psyched up to win with two lariats. Not a bad structure for this match-up but it only went four minutes and lacked any real drama. 3/16/89 Don Arakawa vs. Black Cat (Sky A 121) Arakawa worked a comedic style, overselling for simple moves and telegraphing his own stuff to a clownish degree. Didn't do a ton for me, but the crowd seemed really into his schtick. Black Cat was a solid straight man. 3/16/89 Osamu Kido/Kuniaki Kobayashi vs. Miguel Perez Jr./Hurricane Castillo (Sky A 121) - Perez and Castillo bored me to tears.
