Posted July 4, 200916 yr comment_5441511 Episode #369 Aired 5/5/98 12/5/89 Hase/Kobayashi vs. Goto/Honaga Short, heated match to keep the feud brewing but not something I'd consider nominating. 12/5/89 Masahiro Chono vs. Brad Rheingans Blah match most of the way. It picked up a bit at the end, but outside of a few nifty suplexes, Rheingans didn't look like a high-level pro. 12/5/89 Victor Zangiev vs. Steve Williams This was pretty fun. Doc tossed the Russian around in the first few minutes. Then Zangiev made it more of a grappling match, with Doc keeping up pretty well. Doc worked a cool variation of a backbreaker. Zangiev shocked me by trying a flip off the top. The selling was spotty, and it didn't quite congeal into a nomination, but it was consistently more entertaining than I expected. 12/5/89 Riki Choshu vs. Osamu Kido They probably could have had terrific match if they weren't so far apart in the hierarchy. But Kido's nifty matwork didn't create much tension, because I never got it out of my head that Choshu would shake it off and end things with a few lariats. That's precisely what happened.
