Posted July 7, 200916 yr comment_5441636 Andre was pretty immobile compared to their stuff in the early 80's and 70's, but damn was this a smartly worked cat and mouse match with Andre still being awesome as godzilla. The finish was nuts too, with Inoki getting a submission win to a nuclear hot crowd. I am a mark for this match up clearly but I am nominating this. NJC 237
July 7, 200916 yr comment_5441657 The ending stood out for sure, and there's no doubt that these guys knew how to work each other. But Andre had slowed down so much at this point. It's impressive that they worked around it as much as they did. I'd just have trouble slapping this on the set when we have a decent-sized collection of top-notch Andre from earlier in the decade. I think I nominated a Fujinami-Andre (under the machine mask) from around this time. I guess I liked that one better because Fujinami created more movement. Anyway, no vote.
August 11, 200916 yr comment_5442700 I am also going no. This might be better than the bad Andre-Inoki match Phil nominated from 1980 but I didn't enjoy this nearly as much as the Hoshino tag or the Fujinami-Andre cat and mouse game.
