#282 1/2/98

2/1/88 Tatsumi Fujinami/Kengo Kimura vs. Buzz Sawyer/Owen Hart

- JIP on the classics version. Decent tag that ends with Fujinami pinning Owen after a back suplex.

2/1/88 Antonio Inoki/Seiji Sakaguchi vs. Big Van Vader/Masa Saito

- I wasn’t really feeling what they were going for early on. It didn’t seem right for Team Inoki to be able to pull Vader around for tags or working weak holds where he just stands there. This felt like a big time match and I liked the end and the pull-apart brawl but vote no on the match.

2/4/88 Hiroshi Hase vs. Keiichi Yamada (Sky A 95)

- Early on, Yamada works on Hase’s arm like he attacked Koshinaka’s foot. They mix in a couple of highspots to keep it flowing but Yamada is ace at making holds and matwork mean something in a junior match. Shit, after the work on the arm., they break out some huge spots with Yamada leaping from the top turnbuckle to Hase out on the floor. Back inside, back to work on the arm. He is mixing it up here too using the arm bar, hammerlock, a chicken wing. Hase eventually turns things around and starts destroying Yamada’s rbs. Badass, still selling the arm. However, he gets comfortable, tries an elbow off the top, misses and remembers that his arm is mincemeat. Badass. Both guys work toward the ending with neither being able to execute after going to the top rope but Hase catches Yamada in a flash roll-up. Not very long at about 14 minutes but I enjoyed it. Nomination.
