Posted July 21, 200916 yr comment_5442189 DVD #17 [81'07"] July 10 : Sapporo Nakajima Sport Centre Choshu, Sakaguchi vs Allen, Butcher - Kind of fun to see Choshu as the designated guy to take an ass whipping but nothing too exciting overall. WWF Jr. Heavyweight Championship / Fujinami vs Lane - This fell short of Lane-Takano as Lane looked like nothing more than an athletic but unremarkable guy being led by Tatsumi Fujinami. The ending was frenetic and exciting, but given that we have better samples of each guy from the same period, they didn't do enough to pull a nomination. Inoki vs Superstar - Decent example of Inoki against a midlevel American with solid power offense, but it can't hold a candle to his high-end singles stuff. July 15 : Kushiro Welfare Annuity Gymnasium Kimura vs Thornton - JIP and kind of disjointed anyway, Thornton has been a disappointment in this footage. Sakaguchi vs Superstar - I always enjoy Sakaguchi against another power guy, but nothing jumped out and they went to a pointless double countout. Fujinami, Inoki vs Allen, Butcher - This had its charms. I liked how Allen kept ramming Fujinami into Abby's head. The drama came when a badly busted Fujinami donned a bandage and girded himself for a restart. But the whole thing descended back into chaos pretty quickly. You expect that with an Abby match, but the brawl didn't seem crazy enough to demand a nomination.
