Ted DiBiase

DiBiase was better on the mic, better at getting his opponent over when needed, and far more effective in his role than Shawn was. I also think DiBiase was a more solid worker than Shawn, and, in some aspects, is a far better worker than Shawn. He also never fucked around with people's careers just for kicks.

Shawn Michaels

I really, really want to vote DiBiase here, but Shawn's matchset and longevity just carry him over his negative influence.

Dibiase.

I don't think he was given a fair shake in the grand scheme of things. He was regulated to mid-card status and the tag team division by the end of his first year with the WWF. In that year, I think he proved to be one of the best heels the company's ever had. People hated him, but they loved to hate him. He was a rarity in a promotion that only elevated monster heels to the main event picture. He took a fake belt and made it seem credible. He dragged a great program and set of matches with an over-the-hill VIRGIL.

Think of all the breaks and chances Shawn was given over the years. Had he been knocked down to where Dibiase was, I'm sure he would've jumped ship. You think Shawn would've laid down at a show where he had been promised the WWF title, only to have plans changed at the last moment and the knowledge that you weren't likely to ever get the championship being clear? I think not. Dibiase took repeated shots for the team and made the best of a bad situation. Shawn was a stubborn shit unless he got his way. Shawn may have had more success than Dibiase, but Ted was willing to make others look good and do whatever was asked of him. The two are polar opposites in that respect.

Shawn Michaels

Dibiase's career was limited after he fell out of the main events around 1990. Michaels was on top for quite a while and had better matches against worse opponents.
