Good nip-and-tuck addition to their rivalry. The basic story was that neither guy could gain control for long. Misawa kept trying to break off strings of high-impact offense, but Kobayashi kept cutting him off and grounding him with nasty little shots and mat counters. Both guys took some crazy bumps off attempted dives, and the match had that crazy, ragged feel that I like from junior feuds. If we have to drop one of these in the final cut, this might be it but for now, a solid nomination.

Tiger Mask vs. Kuniaki Kobayashi 3/9/85

- Kobayashi comes out fast and tries to put Misawa away early. Misawa fights back but Kobayashi keeps cutting him off including a nice spin kick to Misawa’s jaw. It’s cool to see how many moves Misawa carried with him after he took the mask off and how long he has been using them. Oh, minus some brownie points for Misawa flying out on the floor, hitting concrete and not selling it. Another good match between the two with some big dives and another hot stretch run with a countout ending. Eh, with two other nominations, I think this one is hurt by the ending and the major-no-sell on Misawa’s part. I was just hyping up how logical Misawa Mask was and he pulls that shit in this match. We can review the Misawa-Kobayashi matches together but this one may be the weakest one.

Tiger Mask II vs. Kuniaki Kobayashi (3/9/85)

Kobayashi attacks Tiger before the bell this time as revenge from their previous match and he goes on the offensive as soon as the bell rings. TM would fight back in spurts again before sending Kobayashi to the floor where he would miss a tornillo hitting all floor but bouncing right back up and into the ring which was ridiculous. Kobayashi would soon miss a dive as well so TM nailed him with a tope suicida to further the damage. Kobayashi had a great counter to TM going up top as he followed right behind him and hit an electric chair drop from the middle rope. The battle would go to the floor again where Kobayashi would hit one of the worst backdrop suplexes ever looking like he just laid him down to setup the double countout finish. I liked the other matches better personally and I think this one can miss the cut.
