Posted October 7, 200915 yr comment_5444917 DVD #10 4/27/85 Tiger Mask/Inoue/Kawada vs. Kobayashi/Honaga/Niikura - Just a clip of the finishing run, but it was amusing to see Kawada as a young, flippy guy. Yatsu/Kurisu vs. Slater/Bass - JIP and nothing noteworthy. Tenryu/Ishikawa vs. Choshu/Hamaguchi - The Choshu/Tenryu stuff seemed a little less heated than usual, though it was still the highlight of the match. This went to double countout just as the finishing run started to kick up. Baba/Jumbo vs. Hansen/Dibiase - Good action with Jumbo handling almost all of the work for his team. It went less than 10 minutes and has no shot at the set given the voume of nominations for Jumbo, Baba and Stan. 5/4/85 Jumbo/Tenryu vs. Slater/Brower - A mismatch on paper and in the ring. Khan/Yatsu vs. Hansen/Dibiase - JIP. This featured one neat moment where Khan tripped his own partner from the outside to keep him from eating a western lariat. Hadn't seen that one before. But overall, this was a fairly pedestrian match-up between a top-tier team and one ranked at least a rung below. Choshu vs. Ric Flair - Flair worked on top for most of this, with Choshu showing his mettle by fighting through the figure four and staging a couple of explosive rallies. They didn't have great chemistry on the mat, so the first half was bland. But things picked up with Flair working the leg to set up his figure four and Choshu selling it well. The crowd popped pretty big when Riki escaped, hit a lariat and worked Flair into the scorpion. But they sort of lost the thread again after that, looking out-of-sync on several spots. I would've bet my right arm on a double countout, and I would've been safe. As a Choshu fan, I was interested to see this, but it doesn't belong on the set.
