They'd build the intensity with a strike exchange and then kill it with an excruciating chinlock sequence. Turned into a good brawl with weapons shots and everything. A whole match of that stuff would've been a nomination. Jumbo/Okuma vs. Choshu/Yatsu - Solid tag with a crisp ending in which Jumbo's desperation to get at Choshu inadvertently caused the imbalance that cost his team the match. Still, it lacked the standout moments that would push it onto the set. Baba/Ishiakwa vs. Hansen/Jerry Blackwell - Tale of two matches here. I loved Hansen's zeal to get at Baba after having been away awhile. But whenever Ishikawa was in, it felt like a squash. 7/6/85 Steve Regal/Gypsy Joe vs. Kobayashi/Honaga - clip Kimura/Tsurumi vs. Yatsu/Hamaguchi - clip Khan vs. Blackwell - Clip but it looked like a match-up I wouldn't mind seeing in full. Tenryu/Ishikawa vs. Choshu/Teranishi - Yet another solid tag without the necessary distinguishing moments. I'm always surprised how much I enjoy Teranishi. He really nailed one suplex on Tenryu. Choshu and Tenryu never quite got after it the way you'd like, and the ending felt abrupt. Baba/Jumbo vs. Hansen/Texas Red - Baba took the western lariat, which was kind of cool. But the crowd seemed disinterested with all of the match-ups except Stan/Baba. No nomination.
