Posted November 30, 200915 yr comment_5446079 DVD #16 7/13/85 Kobayashi vs. Steve Regal - This had a lot of stuff in it, but they did nothing to make any of it meaningful. Tenryu/Ishikawa/Haru Sonada vs. Choshu/Yatsu/Hamaguchi - Pedestrian weekly six-man. God have I watched a lot of these between All Japan and New Japan. Baba/Jumbo vs. Hansen/Blackwell - Definite step up from the typical TV tag. The central storyline saw Baba and Jumbo go after Hansen's lariat arm only for Hansen and Blackwell to return the favor on Jumbo's wrapped right wing. Good focus from both teams, and Jumbo did a standout job of selling. This also featured some random fun moments, like freakishly tall Baba standing on the freakishly fat midsection of Blackwell and Jumbo bouncing off of Blackwell like a scrawny junior. The ending seemed a little casual but I'll throw this up for further review. 7/20/85 Sonada/Sato vs. Destroyer/Regal - clip Baba/Fuchi vs. Blackwell/Red - I enjoyed Fuchi trying to chop down Blackwell and getting flattened for his trouble. But it was a minor match. Hansen vs. Okuma - High-end squash with Okuma doing some nice hit-and-run using his headbutts and Hansen killing him good when the time came. Jumbo/Tenryu/Ishikawa vs. Choshu/Khan/Yatsu - This was what I want from my six-man main events. Everyone dialed up the intensity. Jumbo and Choshu had some fierce interactions to build up their singles rivalry. Khan took a savage beating from Tenryu that left him all bloody. The pace rarely slowed. They went to an actual finish. The crowd loved it. Solid nomination and one of the better matches so far from the Choshu invasion.
