This was what I want from my six-man main events. Everyone dialed up the intensity. Jumbo and Choshu had some fierce interactions to build up their singles rivalry. Khan took a savage beating from Tenryu that left him all bloody. The pace rarely slowed. They went to an actual finish. The crowd loved it. Solid nomination and one of the better matches so far from the Choshu invasion.

Jumbo/Tenryu/Ishikawa vs. Choshu/Khan/Hamaguchi, 7/20/85 (TV16)

- Nice start as they show Jumbo’s arm bandaged up so Choshu goes right for the arm. They work a headlock sequence that was’t setting my world on fire but it didn’t last very long. Man, did Khan and Tenryu have a singles match? The army work on the neck of Tenryu with Khan, Hamaguchi and Choshu all contributing. I sort of wished they would have cut the ring off more but we’ll see if they go back to that theme. Nothing of note happens until Choshu and Jumbo get back in and Choshu starts softening up the legs for a set up to the Scorpion. Jumbo turns the tides however. I actually have a problem with the match in the middle stage because it seemed like random dudes doing random shit but nothing being particularly effective or very interesting. However, when Jumbo’s crew starts working on choshu’s lariat arm outside, I thought this was some cool shit. However, they seemed to discard that run quickly and go right to Choshu locking in on the Scorpion. Khan getting busted open was cool but they never really worked on the cut. I have mixed feelings on this match There were moments where they teased doing some cool shit surrounded by moments of random stuff that had no flow. I wanted to root for this match but can’t give it a yes vote.

Takashi Ishikawa, Genichiro Tenryu, & Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Animal Hamaguchi, Killer Khan, & Riki Choshu (7/20/85)

Jumbo's right elbow is still bandaged up so it will get worked on but it was Tenryu's neck that would get worked on first. Ishikawa would come in right after that and surprisingly regained the advantage for his team for a while which featured a nice slapfest between Jumbo & Choshu with the crowd going nuts. Choshu would get worked over by everyone with Ishikawa being especially fiery until Khan put him down with Mongolian chops. Choshu would come back in but he would get his right arm worked on this time since that was his lariat arm so they wanted to weaken that. Choshu took a lot of punishment here but would hit a backdrop suplex to turn the tide before being superman and getting the sasorigatame instead of making the tag since he was hurt. He would tag in Khan eventually but never sold the armwork in the corner which sucked. Khan would get posted on the floor by Jumbo so we would get some juice and Khan would get pumped up as the blood flowed but Jumbo would catch him with an inside cradle to get the surprising pinfall. I hated the Choshu non-selling but at least he wasn't involved in the rest of the match so it wasn't as bad. Everyone worked really hard here and a clean finish in these matches was always refreshing. I think this moves forward.
