Posted December 4, 200916 yr comment_5446176 DVD #18 8/10/85 Kobayashi vs. Honaga - Couldn't figure out why this got so much TV time. They traded lots of holds without really taking it anywhere, until Kobayashi abruptly hit his fisherman's suplex for the win. Jumbo/Okuma vs. Race/Blackwell - "Punish Jumbo" month continued with Race and Blackwell working over his injured arm. Good payoff, with Jumbo unable to lariat Blackwell hard enough to get past him and break up Race's pin on Okuma. Not enough here for a nomination, however. Tenryu/Ishikawa vs. Choshu/Hamaguchi - Choshu and Hamaguchi laid a hell of a beating on Ishikawa, but this didn't add much to the invasion feud. 8/17/85 Haru Sonada vs. Hara - At least it featured a good bit of violence for a semi-squash. Inoue/Goto vs. Honaga/Kobayashi - I always enjoy a little Tarzan, but this wasn't much of a match Baba/Ishikawa vs. Blackwell/Destroyer - Nothing too memorable. Choshu/Yatsu vs. Race/Regal - Race/Choshu lacked the heat of a lot of potential Riki match-ups, so the match lacked any propulsion. Jumbo/Tenryu vs. Hansen/Red - More working of Jumbo's wrapped arm. Hansen and Red did a nice job with it, but the DQ ending lacked the snap of the earlier Choshu/Khan slaying of Jumbo. Fine way to pass 20 minutes but not something for the set.
