Posted December 17, 200915 yr comment_5446470 DVD #25 11/2/85 Funks vs. Road Warriors - This was the 10/19 match. At least Terry created some mayhem. Choshu/Yatsu vs. Road Warriors - Above average for the Warriors tags as Choshu at least stood up to them and Yatsu flew around a bunch. Still nothing great. Jumbo/Tenryu vs. Flair/Martel - Cool match-up on paper, and not bad in practice. Martel was actually better than Flair here. He looked really smooth with both natives. That said, the match didn't build any real intensity or feature any moments that stayed with me past 15 minutes. So no vote. 11/9/85 Jumbo vs. Choshu - I don't know if this exists in full form, but it's hard to judge with 20 minutes clipped out. I actually liked it more than expected after reading some bad things about it over the years. Sure, they spent a lot of time in holds, but they used facial expressions to sell the struggle of those exchanges. I really bought that Jumbo did not want to be in the scorpion and they paid off all the legwork with Choshu uable to follow up on his explosions of offense down the stretch. I also enjoyed Choshu busting out the enzuigiris and German suplex in hopes of putting Jumbo away. The crowd stayed engaged for the whole hour. I'd lean against nominating it in this form, because those 20 missing minutes could have been brutally boring. But this wasn't nearly the slog I expected.
