I don't know if we can put a match with 14 minutes missing on the set, but the 16 minutes shown were pretty great. We dropped in with Yatsu in peril, but he turned the tide by ducking a western lariat and nailing Hasen with a dropkick. He and Choshu worked Stan's killer left arm for a few minutes until lovely chaos took over. In my favorite spot of the match, Yatsu ducked a double clothesline, and Choshu used the momentum to pull Hansen and Dibiase out of the ring. Riki then leveled Stan with his eastern lariato. A few minutes later, Choshu got Dibiase in the scorpion only for Hansen to roar in and drill him with the receipt lariat. Finally, everybody collapsed in a heap as time expired. Just a ton of intensity and violence here. I'm up for putting this on the set, but if the clip is just too great for you guys, I vote extra.

Hansen/Dibiase vs. Choshu/Yatsu, 12/12/85 (TV 28)

- Ugh, the JIP is going to hurt this. Childs and I have talked before but we see a bunch of 2 star matches with 4 star endings. In the earlier part of the 80s, you’ll have 4 star matches with 1 star endings. Where would this fit in the big scheme of things? It has a disadvantage of being JIP which people would penalize it for but it has the advantage of not being judged fully when the first 14 minutes could have been mediocre like many tags that will be cut off the set. I am going to put this on the side for now until we see what the final set will look like. this will probably go on as an extra to fill in a DVD or something.

Just watched the full version of this on the RWTL commercial tape. The first half was really solid, with Dibiase and Yatsu enduring long sections of punishment while trapped in their respective enemy corners. They established Ted's leg as a target and teased the great Hansen-Choshu confrontations that would come down the stretch. And the finishing stretch was as great as I remembered. Once you guys see the full version, I think this will move from question mark to slam dunk. We should try to use the G+ version if possible because the VQ on the disc I just watched is iffy.

Real World Tag League: Ted DiBiase & Stan "The Lariat" Hansen vs. Riki Choshu & Yoshiaki Yatsu (12/12/85)

Finally we get the full match after the 2nd half aired on TV. The 1st half of this is a really good setup to the awesome 2nd half as it built up to the Hansen/Choshu confrontations later as they teased going at it but beat on the other partners for a while. With everything all together here this is indeed a slam dunk nomination. Great match.
