Posted December 29, 200915 yr comment_5446735 So there's an episode of WCW TV from June '89 on this disc, and I guess this is the right place to talk about it. Sting vs. Jack Victory (TV Title Match) Good competitive squash. Victory throws some nice shots and takes a good bump to the outside, and Sting busts out a swank pescado en route to a quick win. Gary Hart & The Great Muta confront Sting Hart taunts Sting from ringside with the prospect of an upcoming fight with Muta in the Dragon-Shi match, but Sting wants Muta RIGHT NOW! Muta comes out from the back to oblige, but Hart pulls him away before anything more can happen. int: Eddie Gilbert He sends his best wishes to the injured Flair and calls Kevin Sullivan an egg-sucking dog for what the Varsity Club did to Rick Steiner. Video of Rick Steiner getting physical therapy on his injured arm. Is what it is. Scott Steiner vs. Tom Branch Impressive squash for the young Scotty. Kevin Sullivan tries to attack him with a chair afterwords, but Gilbert cuts him off at the path and Sullivan scoots. Brian Pillman hype video WCW hypes up Pillman's impending arrival by showing a bunch of footage of him working out while the "Oh Yeah" song from Ferris Bueller's Day Off plays in the background, which might make this gay enough to be an extra. Johnny & Davey Rich promo They call themselves the Party Patrol, and I'm guessing not too many other people do. Terry Funk vs. Eddie Guerrero Terry Funk promo Awwww yeah. I had forgotten how competitive this was. Eddie actually gets to hang with Terry for a bit, and looks great doing it. Still, he's not going to overtake Terry, who once again comes up big in his legendary '89 run. This plus the classic psycho Funk promo afterwords is a slam dunk extra. Ranger Ross & Ron Simmons vs. The Enforcer & Lee Scott Good squash. The Road Warriors vs. The Freebirds (Michael Hayes & Terry Gordy) (1st Round Match for the vacant World Tag Team Titles) Short but sweet. Gordy is a beast as usual, and the Roadies actually don't look half-bad here, selling within reason even for Hayes and taking the fight right back to the 'Birds. Finish is utterly retarded. SST run in to attack the Roadies, and Nick Patrick counts them out during the brawl. Whatever. Teddy Long promo Norman the Lunatic promo Teddy sends his ill wishes to Flair before showing a video of Norman establishing character. Credit where it's due, at least he's a more convincing psycho than Abyss. Butch Reed vs. Cougar Jay Squash. Cougar Jay was a fine little jobber, taking some impressive spills to the outside.
