Posted January 25, 201015 yr comment_5447342 Spotlight match for Leon, but Ramirez gets in a lot of stuff, too, and both guys look really good. I've never seen lucha matwork given that much of a spotlight in a mainstream American promotion before, and it is great lucha matwork. Later in the match, Leon starts busting out some cool athletic spots (add him to the list of guys who would have been better Tiger Masks than Tiger Mask), and Ramirez starts rudoing it up a bit. This felt more like a true lucha match than anything I saw in WCW's cruiserweight division. More like a true lucha match than 90% of CMLL matches in the last few years, for that matter. Southwest may have been the most Latino-friendly American wrestling promotion I've ever seen. This was a bit exhibitionish, and I normally don't push those kinds of matches as nominations, but the uniqueness of this bout means I'm going to make an exception and put it on the block.

January 26, 201015 yr comment_5447356 I hate to post this type of stunning grover post but Relampago Leon would later go on to work as Billy Two Eagles becoming a babyface star in the Portland CWUSA fed in the nineties and continue to work as kind of a hardcore brawler in the begining of this decade. Guy whose stuff is well worth seeking out.
