Steel Cage Match for the vacant World Class Six-Man Tag Titles: "Gentleman" Chris Adams, Steve Simpson, & Kevin Von Erich vs. Terry "Bamm Bamm" Gordy, Iceman King Parsons, & Buddy Roberts (12/25/87)

 

Good to see Kevin & Gordy start it off and it set the pace for some good heated action. Among the highlights here is an awesome enzuigiri by Adams on Buddy that got the fans rocking and the heels just beating Simpson's ass as he played the FIP. Kevin & Gordy then had a great exchange with Gordy using the Oriental Spike and Kevin following with the iron claw. It would soon break down into a 6-way brawl before Adams would hit Buddy with a Superkick followed up by Kevin hitting a 180 degree diving body press from the top rope to win the titles. Lots of action and a really fun match means this goes on the block.

1987 was not exactly a banner year for World Class, but this match stands up against any match from any year quite nicely. This was a wild brawl with all six men coming up big. The Kevin/Gordy exchanges were the highlight, and I liked Adams was also his usual great self. The backdrop exchanges with Gordy were neat. I've been consistently disappointed with their singles matches, but Adams and Gordy always seemed to work well against each other in tags. All in all, this was red hot, and would've been a great way to close out a lackluster year for the company if they hadn't felt the need to squeeze in just a little more suck later on with the Fritz non-heart attack angle. Slam dunk nomination.

- I thought Buddy was money early on, taking the big leap, getting his head rammed in the cage, letting the faces shine. Adams-Gordy face off and I was hoping there would be more violence but it was solid work, but a little light for a cage match. Still, overall, I enjoyed this match and everything was high impact, energetic, and good enough to move forward.
