Posted February 22, 201015 yr comment_5447981 This starts with clips of Bart & Funk destroying Wild Bill Irwin on 9/5/88 in Fort Worth. Black Bart vs. Playboy Vince Apollo (9/9/88) Apollo now a complete babyface gets squashed here. Next is a promo by Buddy regarding the whereabouts of Michael Hayes. This is great. Super Black Ninja (Keiji Muto) vs. Tom Jones (9/9/88) Kendall Windham is on commentary here for this as Ninja attacks Jones before the bell and actually hits the moonsault over a standing Bronko Lubich. There is no match. Botswana Beast vs. Mickey Finn (9/9/88) Squash. Kendall Windham then confronts the Beast after the match and gets destroyed with help from Iceman. Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy vs. Iceman King Parsons (9/9/88) Gordy is a freight train here just plowing through Iceman to begin the match before Iceman starts chopping him but Gordy fights back and hitting hard. Iceman once again is a great stooge stalling on the floor whining. Akbar would try to trip up Gordy forcing a distraction so Iceman could hit the Butt Butt sending him to the floor where Iceman would follow up posting him. Iceman would continue his advantage back in the ring before Gordy would reverse a piledriver to setup going for the Oriental Spike. Akbar would jump on the apron where Gordy would knock him off. Iceman would go for the Butt Butt again but Gordy would drop down forcing Iceman to fall and setting up another Oriental Spike before Botswana Beast would run in for the DQ. Gordy would then get double-teamed before making his own save and grabbing a steel chair to clear the ring. This was awesome stuff and should be on the set as an extra. AWA World Heavyweight Title vs. World Class Heavyweight Title: Jerry “The King” Lawler © vs. “Modern Day Warrior” Kerry Von Erich © (9/9/88) Lawler says before the match that he made the challenge not Kerry so before the match starts Kerry wants a handshake from Lawler but eats a patented Lawler right hand before the match. Lawler then berates him as Kerry bleeds on the mat then tries to steal the belt before getting in a tug-of-war with Frank Dusek. Lawler is wearing batting gloves on his hands and this is a fucking awesome angle. Slam dunk extra. Lawler sends in a taped promo from Memphis with Lance Russell and this is extra material. Steve Cox & Wild Bill Irwin vs. The Samoan Swat Team (Fatu & Samu) (9/9/88) Irwin is helping Cox fight the SST as Hayes is out of action. SST was such a solid team at this time in everything they did and it shows here. Cox & Irwin were servicable but this was basically a setup for the SST to destroy Cox as they throw Irwin over the top rope so they can work him over until Irwin chases them off with his bullwhip.
June 9, 201015 yr comment_5451780 Buddy Roberts interview One of his best promos from a period where he was cutting a ton of great promos. Extra. Terry “Bamm Bamm” Gordy vs. Iceman King Parsons (9/9/88) This was some wild shit, and I agree that it's an extra. Steve Cox & Wild Bill Irwin vs. The Samoan Swat Team (Fatu & Samu) (9/9/88) This was really evenly contested at first. Samu eats Irwin's jumping boot and bumps on the back of his head. Not long after, the SSTs take over, and it stays that way until they get themselves DQ'd. This was rad, and an actual babyface comeback at the end probably would have gotten this on the block. No such luck.
