(BUSTER) Southeastern 12/84 - 1/85

The Rat Patrol (Scott Armstrong & Johnny Rich) vs. Pat & Randy Rose (12/15/84)

 

This is JIP and it looked like a good TV match. Steve Armstrong would put his brother on top of Pat after a double KO behind the ref's back for the win. The heels and Bill Ash cut an angry promo afterwards.

 

Next we get clips of Mr. Olympia vs. Arn Anderson in a stretcher match from Birmingham on 12/14/84. I fucking love the Olympia gimmick as Jerry Stubbs is an evil man but Mr. Olympia is the hero of the Southeastern area and he readily admits that.

 

Then we get a personality profile regarding Austin Idol getting jumped at a gas station by the Stud Stable the week before as he was trying to get to TV. Austin cuts a promo at the gas pumps with Rick Stewart with fans all around him and this is fucking awesome. Slam dunk extra.

 

"Bullet" Bob Armstrong vs. Ed Siegel (12/15/84)

 

Siegel is a loud mouth jobber and Bullet shuts it quickly.

 

The Stud Stable then cuts a promo at Ron Fuller's house regarding them being fined for the heelness and the induction of Arn into the Stable. Extra material.

 

Jimmy Golden & Ron Fuller show up gloating about Golden being the new Southeastern champion beating Austin Idol.

 

Robert Fuller makes his return to TV after being out for a while and says that he is scaling back from wrestling due to injury issues and his disgust towards his brother & his cousin Jimmy Golden. Extra material.

 

Southeastern Heavyweight Title: Jimmy Golden © vs. "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol (12/22/84)

 

Idol comes out to "The Kid Is Hot Tonight" by Loverboy and starts firing punches at Golden as soon as he enters the ring before going for the Las Vegas Leglock. Fuller immediately jumps on the apron so Idol brings him in and puts the leglock on Golden before all hell breaks loose as a fake Assassin attacks Idol and they put Stud's walking cane into Idol's throat. Mr. Olympia would finally make the save as Idol starts bleeding from the mouth and this was a hot angle. Definite extra.

 

Bill Ash comes out whining about Scott Armstrong getting a shot at Denny Brown's NWA World Jr. Heavyweight Title then they show clips of Brown wrestling from JCP TV.

 

Next is a personality profile featuring the Stud Stable gloating over injuring Idol.

 

Bob Armstrong comes out and they show what happened 2 weeks earlier when he replaced Idol against Golden and the war that went down there. Robert Fuller then shows up and says that he is taking Idol's bookings against Golden. Good stuff.

 

Arn Anderson vs. Terry Ellis (12/22/84)

 

Squash.

 

Stud Stable then comes back out for more shit talking which would bring out Robert & Bullet again and Robert takes a shot at his brother. Good stuff.

 

Everyone then cuts promos regarding the upcoming Night of Champions.

 

The Stud Stable then comes back out for a promo and they show the Memphis video for Humongous.

 

Bob Armstrong comes out and narrates clips of his match against Ric Flair on 12/24/84 in Birmingham.

 

Arn Anderson, The Assassin, & Lord Humongous vs. Porkchop Cash, Mr. Olympia, & Josh Stroud (12/29/84)

 

Stroud just screams I'm taking the pin here. Arn is a bumping fool here to start before Humongous comes in as a powerhouse who especially works over Stroud. Stroud takes abuse from the heels in general before finally getting the hot tag to Chops who comes in blazing on all the heels until he tagged in Olympia who continued the offensive barrage. Humongous would stop that though and Olympia would get worked over including eating a great AA spinebuster before tagging Stroud back in for a lukewarm tag. Stroud gets dominated and Fuller tells his boys to work him over before Arn drops him with the Gourdbuster for the win. Very fun match but Stroud was such a jobber here.

 

Denny Brown vs. Mike Jackson (12/29/84)

 

Bill Ash is on commentary here and this was a fine match with Jackson looking good and Brown being servicable. Brown gets the win after reversing an O'Connor Roll.

 

Bullet Bob comes out and tells the Stud that he would defend his Continental next week on TV against whoever he wants to put up against him.

 

Next we get a personality profile with the Stud Stable in Ron Fuller's yard and this is fantastic. Extra material.

 

Bob comes back out and says that if Golden will put up his Southeastern title this week then he would put up his Continental title next week. The rest of the Stud Stable shows up to corner Bob but Austin Idol runs out with an axe handle to clear the ring. This whole thing is extra material.
