Jerry "El Puma" Estrada vs. Javier "El Monarca" Cruz - Hair Match; .10/22/89

 

Strange match, as Estrada looks high as fuck in the first fall, trouble running the ropes, blows a body slam, but getting smushed by Cruz's plancha seems to knock him out of it, and he is a beast for the rest of the match. Fountains of blood, insane bumps, crazy dives. Total violence, it had the feel of an out of control ECW brawl. Slam dunk pick, probably a top ten finisher

 

Los Brazos vs. Los Bucaneros (Pirata Morgan/Hombre Bala/Verdugo) (Super Libre) 11/89

 

This is the stuff right here. Brazo De Oro damn near bleeds to death, the Brazos aren't funny, the Piratas don't stooge they just try to murder each other. So much to like here, although I especially loved the triple headbutt by the Piratas. Just great stuff.

 

El Brazo/El Brazo De Plata vs. Hombre Bala/El Verdugo - Hair Match 11/17/89

 

More blood and guts from this feud. Along with the brawling, we also got some great Porky highflying including a top rope splash, plancha off the apron and a tope. Bala is especially impressive as he unloads with some nasty looking punches. Great shit, as the top twenty is going to be full of blood soaked hair matches.

 

Emilio Charles Jr./MS1/Tierra, Viento y Fuego vs. Atlantis/El Dandy/Mascara Sagrada

 

Fun match with nifty exchanges which kicks into a next level when Charles Jr. starts chewing on Dandy's head. It gets really grim really fast with Dandy squirting blood and then firing back and busting open Charles Jr. Borderline before the blood, crimson puts it on

 

All Star/Rocky Star/Fuerza Guerrera vs. Super Astro/El Hijo Del Santo/Blue Demon Jr. - Elimination match which determines the following matches…

 

Super Astro vs. Blue Demon Jr.

 

Rocky Star/All Star vs. Fuerza Guerrera/El Hijo Del Santo - Relevos Increibles

 

Battle royal wasn't much, and the two matches which come from it were a little underwhelming. Astro, Santo and Fuerza all looked fine, but Demon and the Stars weren't much and nothing about any of this stood out

Super Libre: Los Bucaneros (Hombre Bala/Pirata Morgan/Verdugo) vs. Los Brazos (Brazo/Oro/Plata) (11/10/89)

 

Oh yeah this starts off with the Brazos bringing the violence and the Bucaneros bumping very hard especially Pirata. God I loved Porky crushing the Bucaneros with a top rope plancha to take the 1st fall. It's also fun to note that the Brazos look like drug lords with their mullets. Porky then crushes Pirata with a senton forcing his partners to come in the ring to drag him out by the arms which was great. Holy shit were these guys laying in the shots on the floor damn they were slapping the piss out of each other. Brazo de Oro gets bloodied up and fuck does it flow from his head like a creek while the Bucaneros all gang up on Porky to even up the falls. Brazos make a comeback in the 3rd fall and start taking the violence back to the Bucaneros. The stretch run here was awesome especially the awesome Porky tope suicida to the floor on Brazo. GOD the triple headbutt on the bloody Oro was nuts and a perfect way to finish. Tremendous match and a slam dunk nomination.
