This is probably the best Mike Von Erich singles match I've ever seen, which isn't really saying a whole lot, but there were a few moments where I was thinking "Ron Cheatham might get me to nominate a Mike Von Erich singles match". No dice, as this is only four minutes long, but I suppose when you're disappointed that the Mike Von Erich match wasn't longer, you've done something right. Chief Billy Whitecloud vs. Jimmy Garvin Holy shit, where did this Whitecloud guy come from? Apparently Mexico if those Angel Azteca-style armdrags are any indication. He busts out two of the "spinning over the opponent's back into an armdrag" variety, as well as a straight one where he sort of turns and falls forward while doing it instead of to the side so it looks like kind of a hybrid armdrag/ipponzei. Garvin rules as much as usual. Him begging off on his knees "No, no, no....wait!" and then lunging in with a headbutt to Whitecloud's gut to turn the tide was great, as were his subsequent kneedrops, which always look great. Whitecloud dodges one and starts ripping up Garvin's knee, and then wins the match (!) by DQ when Precious tries to scratch his eyes out while he has Jimmy in the Indian Deathlock. Precious gives a really great bratty performance here and Whitecloud is great looking super fired up but doing everything in his power to restrain himself from hitting a woman. And Garvin, unsurprisingly, is great at using this to his advantage by hiding behind Precious. I am really on the fence about nominating this match. It's about six minutes long, but it is a loaded six minutes. We might have to throw it on as an extra. I'm hoping this lead to a longer rematch at some point.
